About the author: Natalie Whipple, sadly, does not have any cool mutations like her characters. Unless you count the ability to watch anime and Korean dramas for hours on end. Or her uncanny knack for sushi consumption. She grew up in the Bay Area and relocated to Utah for high school, which was quite the culture shock for her anime-loving teen self. But the Rocky Mountains eventually won her over, and she stuck around to earn her degree in English linguistics at BYU. Let the Wars Begin: Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.

I really love both covers, though they are very different. The US cover highlights the darker parts of my book and focuses a lot on Fiona's life as a syndicate thief. The UK cover focuses more on the humor and light parts of my book, when Fiona escapes her syndicate and starts to make friends and grow as a person.
Though I don't have a favorite, I think the UK cover is probably more representative of what a reader will find in TRANSPARENT. I think a lot of US readers have seen the cover and gone in thinking the book will be an Ocean's 11-type, action-packed novel. And it does have action! But not quite like Ocean's 11. In the UK a lot of people have been calling TRANSPARENT "contemporary sci-fi," which is a categorization I love. Because there are a lot of contemporary-novel elements along with the sci-fi (think magic realism but sci-fi instead), and I think the UK cover portrays that possibility better than the US cover.
Funnily enough, I think the sequel, BLINDSIDED has about double the action of TRANSPARENT—but the cover is about the happiest thing on the planet and doesn't have a US counterpart. (It'll still be in the US! My UK publisher just has world English rights this time so no dual covers.)
Lisa This is another easy choice for me this week. First lets talk about both covers. The US version I like how the girl is "lost" in the cover. I like the colors, the look and feel of it. The UK cover is very fun and bright, maybe even a bit juvenile? While there's parts of each cover that appeal to me my vote for this week goes to the US cover.

This is an easy choice for me this week. While I was immediatley drawn to Transparent from reading the synopsis of the USA version, the cover actually put me off from reading the book.
When it got picked up in the UK I saw the cover and fell in love before I even read the synopsis and it took me a while to make the connection between the two versions. I love how light and happy the UK is even though I do tend to veer towards darker covers and books.
My vote goes for UK this week.
