Synopsis: “Live, no regrets”

Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life. However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her. She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over. For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday. So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them. It’s never had to be. He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember. Right up until tragedy struck. Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession. But the one thing they can’t find is a future. Neither one has been totally honest. And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details. In the details and in the lies.

How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

Review: 5 Stars - All The Pretty Lies By one of my favorite authors M. Leighton is without a doubt one of my favorite books this year! I loved it from beginning to end! She knows how to write very layered characters and with Sloane and Hemi I wasn’t disappointed!

Okay, before I get to the heart of this review I must warn readers that this is going to be full of gushing because I LOVED it THAT much!

So for this title we have two characters both with secrets. Sloane is trying to find her identity because of being smothered her whole life. Her father and brothers are all cops and keep her under their thumb in every part of her life. She’s 21 and ready to fly free, to learn how to life and to make her own mistakes. One thing that I loved about her is that she tough, yet soft around the edges she wants to live and not take a day, minute or second for granted. Another thing is that she’s artistic. Anytime a character has an artistic side I’m always drawn to them so I was impressed that with this title Michelle incorporated a lot of art into the story.

And then we have Hemi. Holy crap. Hemi. He’s also artistic and extremely driven. He’s the swoon-able bad boy who’s secrets are kept close. He was hard to get much of a feel on, yet being that this title is written in dual POV between both of these characters it was helpful in learning bit by bit about his past and what he was trying to accomplish due to a tragedy in his past. The thing about Hemi is he’s hiding more than secrets; he’s also hiding who he really is.

When these two collide there’s no turning back no matter how much they want to. He’s a little older, has lived so much more in his life than she is but the two work well together as a couple because of how they look at life. He’s a tattoo artist and has the tools and means to teach her a different art and I LOVED that part of the story. It was a way for them to open up to each other and some of the steamiest moments EVER happened in his tattoo area. WOW!

One of the best things about Michelle’s novels are how well rounded her characters are. From start to finish you know the characters will always have depth and will have your emotions pumping. Her characters are always memorable and some of my favorites. Her writing is also done fantastically well.  There’s never a part in the story that the flow feels off or that I’m taken out of the story… I’m always so engrossed that I never want to leave her characters and the world she’s created for them!

The twists in this one were done so well that I wanted to clap for Michelle. I was dying to know what both of them were hiding and when it all came out… yeah, not at all what I was expecting!

In the end, LOVED IT! Hands down amazing! As soon as I finished I wanted to start the book all over again. I wanted more Sloane, more Hemi! I wanted to get lost all over again in the story and hope that on my second read through that more pages at the end would magically appear. Reading Michelle’s books never let me down, she knows what she’s doing and you can always, ALWAYS be guaranteed one hell of a story! Another set of characters that have made their mark… I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a contemporary title that’ll leave you begging for more. Fans of “New Adult” should all be running to purchase this one today! Enjoy!
