Synopsis: Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.

Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.

But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

Excerpt:

Someone—was it Melvin?—catcalled as Reece ledme down the hall, and my cheeks flushed. “Okay, heman,I can walk all by my little self.”
He cast a look over his shoulder at me as he openedthe office door. “I’m sure you can.”
          Then he pulled me inside.
My gaze flipped to the roses—the roses!—butbefore I could say a word, he closed the door and myback was pressed against it, his hands planted oneither side of my head and his face right in mine. Likeright there, within kissing distance.
          Wow.
“So, I was at my father’s place in New Jersey most ofthe day, and you know, he lives out near the Pine Barrens,so service is shit.”
I nodded even though I really wasn’t processingwhat he was saying as I was too busy staring at hismouth. Those lips, fuller on the bottom, drove me todistraction.
“I pull out of his driveway and I have all these messagesfrom Dennis,” he continued, and I finally caughton to what he was talking about. “I honestly thoughthe was messing with me at first.”
          I cringed. “He . . . um, he wasn’t.”
He shot me a bland look. “That much I figured out.”His hands slid on the door, stopping just shy of touchingmy shoulders. “What did he do to you?”
          “What?” I blinked.
“What did that bastard do to make you throw abook through his windshield?”
Oh. Oh. My heart was now wiggling along with mystomach. “He really didn’t do anything. I just lost mycool. He wanted to talk to me, and I didn’t want to talkto him.”
“You don’t have to talk to him.”
“That’s what Dennis said, but I shouldn’t have damagedhis car.”
A muscle flexed along his right jaw. “That’s true.”He shook his head. “Damn, Roxy, can’t say I’m surprised.”
My brows flew up. “You’re not?”
He laughed under his breath. “Babe, you’ve alwayshad a hell of a temper on you.”
Ah, that was kind of true. “Is that a good thing or abad thing?”
Reece cocked his head to the side. “A sexy thing, butvandalism and destruction of property doesn’t lookgood on you, sweets.”
“No. It doesn’t match my manicure.” I raised myhands, flashing him the blue nails.
He laughed again and then he sobered up, just likethat. Cop Face was on, and yeah . . . the low coilingin my stomach told me I found Cop Face arousing.“You’re lucky. He could’ve pressed charges, and thisconversation would be going in a whole different direction.”
My own half smile slipped off my face. “I know. It’s. . . I was just with Charlie, and he’s . . .” Unable to continue,I forced a casual shrug I didn’t feel. “What areyou going to do with me?”
His lips parted as his chest rose with a deep breath, then his gaze dropped to my mouth, and his expressiontightened. He looked . . . he looked hungry. “Ihave lots of ideas.”

She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Let the Wars Begin: Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.

Lisa When I look at these covers I see so many things I love about them each of them.

The US cover is romantic and sweet while the UK cover is beautiful and leaves me with questions. Both of these covers make me want to pick up the book and read it and both make me want to fall in love because that's what I see when I look at each of these.. a chance to fall in love with the characters and their story.

I think that this week the UK cover just edges out for my vote. It's the questions that this becautiful cover leaves me with that tell me it's this weeks winner for me.

Which is your favorite? Click then quick poll below and tell us.
Michelle I honestly don't really know which one to pick this week. I think the UK is pretty, but looking at the cover and the light effects, if I didn't read the synopsis I would think this was a fantasy book with faeries.

The US one however doesn't really do anything for me. Its not particularly eye catching but I would have some idea about what it is about from the cover alone.

My vote this week goes to the US cover, and that is purely because I fell it represents the book far more than the UK cover does.

Don't forget to vote for YOUR favourite cover, and check out what I thought of the book with my review.

Title: Leaving Amarillo (Neon Dreams #1)

From: the Publisher
Format: eARC/ARC
Add to: Goodreads
Order a copy: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, The Book Depository, Amazon UK, iBooks

NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+

Synopsis: Nashville meets New Adult in Neon Dreams, a dramatic, sexy series from bestselling author Caisey Quinn, about a country band’s rocky road to fame—and the ambition, dreams, and love of the people who make the music.

Dixie Lark hasn’t had it easy. She lost her parents in an accident when she was young and grew up in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother. Thanks to her grandfather, Dixie learned to play a mean fiddle, inspired by the sounds of the greats—Johnny and June, Waylon, and Hank. Her grandfather’s fiddle changed Dixie’s life forever, giving her an outlet for the turmoil of her broken heart and inspiring a daring dream.

Ten years later, Dixie and her brother, Dallas, are creating the music they love and chasing fame with their hot band, Leaving Amarillo. But Dixie isn’t enjoying the ride. All she can think about is Gavin, the band’s tattooed, tortured drummer who she’s loved since they were kids. She knows he feels the connection between them, but he refuses see her as more than his best friend’s little sister.

Convinced that one night with Gavin will get him out of her system, Dixie devises a plan. She doesn’t know that her brother has forbidden Gavin from making a move on her-a promise he swore he’d always keep . . . a promise that once broken will unexpectedly change the future for Dixie, Gavin and the band.

Review: 3.5 Stars - Leaving Amarillo is the first title in the Neon Dreams trilogy from author Caisey Quinn. With three head strong band members, working together to make it in the music business.

Dixie, Dallas and Gavin are the members of the band Leaving Amarillo. They love what they do, they work hard and with Dallas and his head for business they just know that making it big is right around the corner for the trio. Dixie and Dallas are a tight unit as brother and sister but Gavin’s been around them for so long he’s more like one of the family.

Each character has their own issues they are dealing with – some much larger than others, yet choices must be made. Some harder than others, but the three together and apart need to figure out what’s next for them on this crazy road they are headed down.

I couldn’t wait to read this one yet was a tad let down a few times throughout. Often the story felt sluggish which sadly removed me from the book. Yet when the book flowed I enjoyed the characters and their journey without issue.

The book itself is written in Dixie’s point of view so we spend more time with her as she tries to come to terms with what’s currently happening to her and what she might have to face next. And she does have choices – some easier than others and really she has a huge heart.

It was her brother that rubbed me the wrong way more than once. I didn’t understand his actions often and his comments were somewhat confusing, however I can only assume that’s what would happen to someone as driven and focused on the end game as Dallas was.

And then there’s mysteriously hot drummer Gavin who has so many things he’s hiding that I couldn’t get enough of him and what made him tick. I enjoyed that the Epilogue was in his voice, yet wondered if it all was too late? Or perhaps not enough? And then wham! Quinn added yet another layer to this guy with a few simple words that I just knew I’d want to find out all that makes him who he is. So, the next two books will be must’s for me to read… however I’m thinking we won’t really find out what’s up until the third book, so yeah… the long, long wait is not going to be my friend.

The book does without a doubt have some serious sexual tension and steam. It was hot and heavy and sometimes sweet and every time just right. Quinn without a doubt made the chemistry flow.

In the end I liked the book. I wanted to have a mad love for it, yet it just wasn’t so. Sadly, we can’t love them all, but there was some serious like there. I think that parts I was most impressed with were the background parts and the bits and pieces away from the music that gave these characters life and made me seriously intrigued to want more. And even without mad love there’s enough like there and interest to want to know more so I will be excited to see what happens next.

Fans of contemporary titles centered around music, strong family bonds and loves of a lifetime shouldn’t pass this by. And readers won’t have to wait too long for the next two books as they’re released later this year. Future readers, enjoy!

Title: Lark Singer (The Starlight Chronicles #2)
Author: Lisa Orchard
Publisher: Eskape Press, 123 pages (December 6th 2014)
From: the Author
Format: eBook
Add to: Goodreads
Order a copy: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Amazon UK

Synopsis: Lark Singer is seventeen years old and already on the way to a brilliant music career. As she and her band, Starlight, gear-up for an upcoming, life-changing band competition, though, life seems to be throwing her a few curve balls.

The mysteries of her past seem to be unravelling, and she’s no longer certain she wants to know those answers, or how knowing about her past will affect her difficult relationship with her mother. And when her best friend, Bean, changes things between them, all her plans for a musical future are placed in jeopardy. How can she balance her unravelling personal life to keep her musical goals on track?

Review: 3 Stars - As the competition draws nearer, Lark and her friends are busy practicing for the competition, playing weekly sets at a local bar/restaurant to build their confidence and have even come up with a name “Starlight”.

Despite the excitement of the competition, Lark still has some worries. Her best friend Bean is being more and more secretive every day, leading Lark to suspect that he has something to hide.

Lark is still on a mission to find out who her father is, a fact that her mother has kept secret all of her life. When she finds photographs in her mother’s closet that show her mother with a young man in her high school days, she knows she has to question it.

After a discussion with her mother about the true identity of her father, Lark and Francine (her mum) start to bond more. This is nice to see as they’ve always been distant with each other.

Apart from us discovering who Lark’s father is, the progression with the band before the competition and Bean’s deception there isn’t a lot of content in this book but it is good for setting up the background details for the next book Starlight. It’s a nice easy, quick read and I look forward to reading what happens next.

Once again beautiful cover art, the colours and the models look great. If I saw this on the shelf or online I would definitely want to give it a read.

The only downside for me of Lark Singer, is that because of the age of the characters there is the over use of the work “Epic”. I know I used it a lot when I was younger and younger readers probably won’t notice it, but it’s one word I could pick out all the way through and over the course of the book it did bug me a bit.

Title: Starlight (The Starlight Chronicles #3)
Author: Lisa Orchard
Publisher: Eskape Press, 150 pages (February 17th 2015)
From: the Author
Format: eBook
Add to: Goodreads
Order a copy: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Amazon UK

Synopsis: Everything is on track for seventeen-year-old Lark Singer and her band Starlight. They have a great shot at winning the competition that can launch their musical career. But when Lark discovers they will be competing against her old nemesis Duane McIntyre things really heat up. How far will Lark go to win, and what will it cost her in the end?

Review: 4 Stars - Contains spoilers.

The competition is finally here. All the practicing is about to pay off. But why does Lark feel on edge. Her arch nemesis Dwayne McIntyre has been pestering her and trying to psych her out before the competition. He keeps mentioning Bean’s drug problem and wants to take Bean’s place in the band. When Lark realises he’s entering with his own band it all makes sense.

On the night of the competition it’s a very close call but Starlight win. Entry to the American Singer competition is theirs!

What happens next can only be described as heart breaking.

When celebrating the band’s win in the competition, Bean tries drugs from a new supplier and ends up taking an overdose. I had been expecting something to come from this addiction but not this.

Lark’s grief for her best friend/boyfriend is overwhelming, as can be expected. She doesn’t want to eat, she just wants to sleep. Thankfully her renewed bond with her mother helps at this time and she can talk to Francine about things. She also finds comfort in talking to her band mate Stevie.

When Lark goes to pay her respects to Bean’s family, Dwayne is just leaving. I have a feeling he has something to do with Bean’s death; I will keep my true suspicions to myself for now though. Although he has visited Bean’s house, when Lark mentions his name to Brian (Bean’s brother) he has never heard of him. Maybe he knows him under another name? Only time will tell.

Lark receives a file from Brian which has Bean’s lead sheets and lyrics that he has written; this gives Lark the encouragement to carry on.

The question now is will Lark go against her instinct and invite Dwayne to take Bean’s place in the band or will the band fail at the first hurdle?

This book had a lot more content than the previous two books.  A heart breaking tale of young love and loss.

Lisa Orchard covers a lot of subjects well in this book- deception, Lark finding out and meeting her father, death, grief and the aftermath that follows.

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to other YA fans.

Starlight has a very pretty cover as well.

The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.

Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.

But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I'm the one discovering him...or if he's uncovering me.

What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?

Review: 5 Stars - Manwhore by author Katy Evans is the first book in an exciting new series from the author who brought readers her delicious Alpha males in her REAL series. This time around she tackles a new kind of Alpha male and the woman who gets under his skin.

Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint - It’s not something you’ll forget once you meet the man behind the long sexy name. He’s closed off, a man of few words and the world at his finger tips. He likes a challenge, goes after everything and anything he wants with one goal in mind. Winning. He’s scarred on the inside. Damaged from his dark head of hair to the tips of his toes from a past he had no control over, he’s never alone yet you can see just how lonely he is as it comes pouring off of him.

Enter Rachel the writer who’s been giving a chance of a life time. Find out all she can to unlock the mystery that is Saint and expose him for all that he is. Good or bad, she’s beyond thrilled to have the chance to work on such a high profiled person – that she goes above and beyond to complete the challenging story with hopes of taking her career to the next level.

There’s no question about this… I LOVED the book. The characters are, each in their own ways mysterious. Malcolm trickles bits and pieces to Rachel as the two meet numerous times under the guise of an Interview about his latest venture, which then their meetings turn into something more as something begins to grow between these two. And as the story is written from Rachel’s point of view, you never really know exactly what’s going on behind the brooding man himself.

I was right along there with Rachel wondering how he’d react next and often cringed wondering if she’d pushed things too far one way or the other and if it would then push the extremely private man away. And yet as their relationship grew, I was just as confused as Rachel was in not only her feelings but also why they were both holding so much back.

Speaking of their relationship… it was beautiful, sexy and often times confusing, yet the confusing part was supposed to be that way. It’s how these two are, so it was important to the story. At least in my eyes.

Something you can always count on when it comes to this amazing author is her characters and their stories. It’s without a doubt the driving force when it comes to her books. You get characters who are more than memorable. They leave a mark so deep you can’t help but continue to wonder about them long after reading. And their stories and past leave you both parts fulfilled and gasping for more.

Also, can I just say, for the most part the secondary characters drove me NUTS! There were three of them that I wanted to have words with and I often wondered why they surrounded themselves with people who were somewhat toxic. Yet it didn’t take away from the story and added to the two main characters themselves. Made me wonder more about them as people because of who they had surrounded themselves with.

The stories are rich and the writing is always done wonderfully well yet as Katy writes more you see just how far she’s come from her first book to her last. Katy is without a doubt extremely talented and never seems to do anything other than amaze me.

Manwhore was so much more than what I was expecting it to be. The story flies by and while reading will leave readers feeling many emotions from beginning to end. I felt a gamut of them and I know others will as well. It’d be hard not to once you meet these characters!

I’ve been a fan and friend of Katy for a long while now and am happy to say that she’s not only blown me away yet again, but she’s gone so above and beyond the bar this time… it’s hard to put into words just how much I loved this book and author.

There’s no doubt in my mind when it comes to recommending this title to others. It’s a contemporary that readers will find characters to love and a story you won’t want to end. And now we wait for Manwhore + 1. *taps fingers* Katy…. I need more Malcolm and Rachel ASAP! Happy Reading.

Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.

Author Interview:

Hey Katy! Long time no talk my friend! It’s great to have you on the blog. I’ve missed talking with you and I can’t tell you how excited I am to help celebrate your upcoming title – Manwhore.

So, let’s get started!

Lisa! So happy to be here talking to you right now. Thanks so much for having me over. I've missed you too and I can't wait for you to read Manwhore! I hope you love it like I do. :)

First… can you tell us, in your own words a bit about Manwhore?

Manwhore is the story of a young journalist who puts her heart and body in danger when the exposé she’s writing leads her into the arms of a notorious womanizer. Their romance is an exquisitely slow-burning process that kept me glued to my seat, enjoying every moment!

Many people know your writing from your REAL series and characters, how does this differ new series from that and those characters?

I think Manwhore is a more "mature" side of my writing, even though it's probably the most modern and fun book I've ever written. The story is simpler, but it’s the simplicity that makes the characters come across so well and so powerfully. There aren't fights or guns or rock concerts in Manwhore, so instead, we're in Chicago, in the shoes of a 'normal' girl who catches the eye of a very elusive and powerful man.

What were the hardest and the easiest part in writing this new title?

The hardest part was the beginning. I usually labor over my beginnings a lot. They need to be perfect and sometimes I need to write for a little while to determine where my "best" start is. I started this book initially with a club scene that ends up several chapters behind simply because I realized I was leaping straight into the action and I needed to know more about the heroine and her task first. I still love that club scene so much, though, it's one of my favorites in the book!

If you could ask your two main characters two quick questions for me?

Oh absolutely.

What was their first impression of each other?

Rachel: Malcolm, ohhhh. He's like a storm, and so hot and self-possessed. Electric. I could hardly breathe or think.
Malcolm: She was a mess. Blushing under my stare. Shy but inquisitive. Nervous. And lovely.

And looking back if they had to describe each other in three words, what would those words be?

Rachel: Confident. Relentless. Intense.
Malcolm: Innocent. Responsible. Addictive.

Without giving too much away would you mind sharing with us your favorite line or two from the book?

I have so many! Malcolm isn't a man of many words but whenever he talks, I melt so hard and so does Rachel. I don't want to spoil any of his words so I'll go with two of my favorites from Rachel:

He is Sin Itself...and I feel like an absolute virgin.

To him: "You make my world spin a little faster."

And lastly, since this is the exciting beginning of a new series, can you tell us all, because I know I’m dying to know… what we can look forward to for this series? And what we can look forward to from you in the future?

I'm truly thrilled to share this series. It's modern and exhilarating, the first stories so far focusing on a single couple - Malcolm and Rachel - as they fall in love and try to have a relationship together even though neither of them had 'room' in their lives for that.

Katy, as always it’s a pleasure to have you on my blog. I am really looking forward to reading Manwhore and I hope we get a chance to catch up soon!!! Miss you tons and a HUGE congrats on the new book.

Lisa, thank you so so much for having me over and I definitely look forward to catching up. My warmest hugs and all my gratitude for your time and for inviting us over! XO
