Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By Books & Much Loved Books!
It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet. Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US. So, Michelle from Much Loved Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions.
We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier! Book Wars is a new feature for both of us which we hope to post every Monday, while we get it up and running this is subject to change as we participate in other features or tours we have committed to prior to setting up Book Wars.
Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce. The Book Wars winner for The Fury is the UK edition!!! Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.
Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

Synopsis: As a glassmaker and a magician-in-training, Opal Cowan understands trial by fire. Someone has sabotaged the Stormdancer clan's glass orbs, killing their most powerful magicians. The Stormdancers, particularly the mysterious and mercurial Kade, require Opal's unique talents to prevent it from happening again. But when the mission goes awry, Opal must tap into a new kind of magic. Yet the further she delves into the intrigue behind the glass and magic, the more distorted things appear. With lives hanging in the balance, including her own, Opal must control her powers, powers that could lead to disaster beyond anything she's ever known.
About the author: Meteorologist turned novelist, Maria's been writing fantasy and science fiction since she was bored at work and needed something creative to do. A dozen novels and numerous http://www.MariaVSnyder.com short stories later, Maria's learned a thing or three about writing. She’s been on the New York Times bestseller list, won a half-dozen awards, and has earned her MA degree in Writing from Seton Hill University where she's been happily sharing her knowledge with the current crop of MFA students. She also enjoys creating new worlds where horses and swords rule, 'cause let's face it, they're cool, although she's been known to trap her poor characters in a giant metal cube and let them figure out how to get out. Let the Wars Begin: Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.
Maria
My favorite of the new USA and UK Storm Glass covers is the USA one. I think the model on the cover matches my vision of what Opal looks like and the colors are enticing.
Lisa While the UK cover is very eye catching, I think the US cover is this weeks choice for me. The US cover looks magical and I like that readers are given a peek at the character Opal. I'd pick up both to learn more, but I think the US cover is a bit more intruiging.
Michelle
This is an easy pick for me. While I do own the UK version of these books with the new covers, I love the USA cover so much more. The UK one looks pretty on my shelf, but I love how eye catching the USA cover is and it makes Opal seem that much more real.
