Synopsis: The start of college heralds new beginnings and new friendships. It gives every girl a chance to reinvent herself.
I go and screw mine up by meeting the most gorgeous guy I’ve laid eyes on in five years while talking to my cat outside my dorm.
But Andrew Crowner is far from judgmental. After helping me move my things to my room, he has me smitten by his easy manners and kind smile. And from the way his eyes linger on me before he leaves, I start to think that maybe I’ve caught his attention, too.
I let myself believe that luck might finally be on my side until I stumble upon my roommate… and her overnight guest.
Spencer Ashford.
Lean and tattooed, sexy as sin and dangerous, Spencer is exactly the type I want to avoid. I would have no trouble with that… were it not for his swift and inexplicable interest in me.
In the span of a week, I go from a girl with next-to-no experience with boys to one caught in the cross hairs of two totally different men.
Andrew’s interest is wholesome and sweet. Spencer’s is edgy and raw. The choice should be easy. But there are always complications, and sometimes, matters of the heart take the least expected turns.
Review: 3.5 Stars - Never Let Go by Author Scarlett Edwards is the first title in what looks to be a new series. With the ending leaving things more than open for the story to continue, following the same characters that we’ve met in this title, I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next.
I’ve said it before many times over and I’ll say it again… I’m a HUGE fan of “New Adult” titles and getting a chance to read and review this one for the blog tour was yet another book I jumped at the chance of reading. It’s not the best, but there’s enough from beginning to end of the story and the characters that are interesting and endearing.
One of the main things I liked about this book was that there was a good guy and a bad guy after our female leads affections. While it is written somewhat as a love triangle, things quickly change when true colors are shown. That’s something that I appreciated about the story. It’s not often when reading that I find a story such as this… where a characters true personality comes through after so long of trying to keep up the first impression pretenses. We all know that in life you go about to be on your best, or as close to your best behavior when you meet someone. However, keeping that up after so long is harder to do than anyone ever expects. And that’s what I appreciated in this story. That we had a chance to see what happened when people change and their true selves come out.
For me, I wasn’t a fan of Andrew the more I read. He was such a nice guy but he kind of creeped me out. It wasn’t long until I read one scene and I felt so let down for Paige. Andrew has his reasons for keeping to the strict rules so his decisions early on in the book were admiral and understandable. However, there was something that kept niggling in my mind about him that I just couldn’t get past.
Spencer, while he’s one of those bad boys that all the girls want.. the one who doesn’t do the girl friend thing? Yeah, that’s him… there’s something about him that is honest and sincere. You can see there’s some possible cracks to his bad boy persona that just need the right girl to come along and chip away at that armor he’s wearing.
There are a couple parts in the story that these characters showed their age, and some misunderstandings that gave these characters a more realistic feel, which was something else I appreciated.
All in all the more of the story I read and got to know the characters the more I liked the book as a whole. There were a few parts that were a bit rocky for me and a few that I could see coming, but there was a couple of twists that I didn’t so that made up for things a bit. I liked that this is the beginning of a series, which again I didn’t see coming but was glad because the closer I got to the end of the book the more I felt like this was more of a beginning than an end. The writing was done well and I can’t wait to read what comes next! Those who like a great contemporary story should give this one a try; I think “New Adult” readers will enjoy this one!
About the Author:
I’m Scarlett Edwards. I wrote my first book as a college sophomore. After six months of edits, it made its debut as Yours to Savor.
That was at the start of 2013. I’ve written more books since then. You can find them all here.
It’s funny how quickly life changes. I used to think I’d need a degree to get a “Real Job.” Then I wrote a few books, they got somewhat popular, and now I’m living the life as a full-time romance author.
Thanks to all my readers for making my dream come true.
