Check out my review of: Soar (The Empire Chronicles, #1)

NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+
Synopsis: In the city that never sleeps the Chronicles continue…

Serving coffee is temporary, just like Casey's year off from school. She’s going to come up with a plan to stay in New York City and go back to college, and that plan does not involve dating a paranormal creature—let alone two.

Running the supernatural society of New York is not as fun as it sounds, especially when you still have to answer to your ex-girlfriend’s fiancĂ©. Toby doesn’t mean to bring Casey into the chaos of his life, but he can't resist the girl who makes him smile when he thought no one else ever could.

Jared's in New York checking out a security risk for his best friend, the king. He plans to return to New Orleans quickly, but not if it means losing his chance with the brunette who pretends she wants nothing to do with him.

In over her head with a bunch of winged creatures who most definitely are not angels, Casey has to figure out who to trust with her life and maybe her heart.

Character Interview -

Hi everyone! I’m really excited to have you three here to visit. How about we get started?

So, Casey, I have a question for you - what were your first impressions of Toby and Jared?

I first met Toby at work, and he looked so sad. I wondered why such a good-looking guy would appear so heartbroken. Even though he didn’t talk to me much, I wanted to know more about him.

My first impression of Jared was “are those abs real?” I don’t consider myself to be a superficial person, but what struck me the most about Jared the first time I met him was his looks. I also noticed his arrogant attitude, but now I know there’s more underneath.

And the same question for you guys… what were your first impressions of Casey?

T: I noticed Casey right away the first time I went to Coffee Heaven, but it took a few visits to realize just how special she was. Before long she became the bright spot of my day. Even if I didn’t want coffee, I still went in just to see her.

J: my first impression of Casey was why is a girl this hot with Toby? I normally don’t go for brunettes, but I was attracted to her right away. Even dressed in oversized gym clothes, she looked adorable.

Toby and Jared - during your time getting to know Casey, is there anything you’d want a “do-over” for if you could? And Casey, same question for you for each of the guys?

T: I would’ve been more forward. I would’ve made sure she knew exactly how I felt.
J: No, I kind of like how things unfolded for us
C: I wouldn’t have made so many assumptions about either of them

How about a question for all three of you? Could you tell us three things about yourself that we won’t find out about/learn about you by reading your story in SOAR?

C:
1) I played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz in high school.
2) I love white chocolate
3) I’ve always wanted to travel long distance by train

T:
1) I have a thing about watching reruns of Law and order
2) I’ve always wanted to live abroad
3) If I weren’t a Pteron, I probably would’ve played a lot of sports

J:
1) I actually do really well in school when I bother to try
2) As much as I give Owen a hard time I really respect him
3) I’m a pretty good cook.

Jared and Toby – what’s the hardest part about keeping who you really are secret? And Casey, for you what’s been the hardest part in keeping their secret?

T: Hiding my strength
J: Wanting to show off
C: wanting to talk to my friends about it

Casey, what’s the best part about knowing these two guys?

There’s never a dull moment in my life anymore. As frustrating as the situation has been, it’s definitely been an interesting one.

Oh! I have another question for the three of you - what’s the best part about flying? Casey since I haven’t read your story yet, I’m sure you’ve been flying with one or both of these guys, so I’m curious what’s the best thing about flying with them to you?

J: Speed, and nothing gets in your way
T: Getting away from it all and being above all the craziness below
C: The freedom and the adrenaline rush.

And lastly, how do each of you feel knowing there’s a book that’s just been released about you? Without giving too much away, is there anything in there that Alyssa included that you wish she wouldn’t have?

T: I’m excited that Alyssa’s finally getting more of my story out. She could have left Jared out of this book though.
J: I still don’t see why she couldn’t give me my own series
C: there are definitely a lot of personal details spilled, and I hope everyone understands my decisions

Casey, Toby and Jared, thanks SO much for visiting with me. If either of you guys or your friends are looking to take someone flying one night I’m available ;)

C: Thanks so much for having me!
J: I promise flying is a whole new experience
T: Please, entertain Jared so he’ll stay away from Casey

  2. Haha, LOVED this interview! I especially really loved Jared's answers. ;) I was excited when Alyssa announced there would be a new series, and that he was in it. I've already read Soar, and I loved it! I can't wait for more of the Pterons' world. :)
