LISA: Hey everyone!!! I'm SUPER EXCITED to introduce two amazing characters from author Kelly Orams latest release - Cinder & Ella! I had the pleasure of meeting these two a few months ago and then recently while asking them what they think of their book being out released into the world. I know I'm excited for everyone to read their story... so let's get started and see what these two have to say.....

EllaTheRealHero: Hey everyone! I’m Ella, average teenager and book blogger extraordinaire.
Cinder458: And I’m Brian, star of The Druid Prince, and all of all Ella’s fantasies.
EllaTheRealHero: Right. He wishes.
Cinder458: I don’t wish, I know. Anyway, I play Prince Cinder in the upcoming movie The Druid Prince. It’s a film adaptation of the first book in the best fantasy book series of all time, The Cinder Chronicles by LP Morgan.
EllaTheRealHero: Definitely the best book series ever.
Cinder458: And now it’s going to be the greatest movie of all time.
EllaTheRealHero: Let me guess: because you’re the star?
Cinder458: Well I am perfect for the role. Plus, I’m the book’s biggest fan. Who else could have played Cinder as well as me?
EllaTheRealHero: Fine, you’re perfect for the part, but I have to argue that you’re the book’s biggest fan. I believe, that title belongs to me.
Cinder458: Actually, it doesn’t. I love everything about the book. You hate the ending and would totally rewrite it if you could. That makes me the bigger fan.
EllaTheRealHero: That’s not true. I love the ending. I just think Cinder picked the wrong girl.
Cinder458: No he didn’t. You were just on the wrong “team” as you bloggers like to say. Hey, have you ever noticed that that happens to you a lot?
EllaTheRealHero: It does not.
Cinder458: Oh, please. Jacob? Puck? Gale? You even wanted Valerie to end up with Isaac in V is for Virgin. Nobody wanted Virgin Val to end up with the boring church boy over the rock star.
EllaTheRealHero: Well, Kyle was a jerk! Val deserved better. Plus, the guy who played Isaac in the movie was hotter than the actor who played Kyle.
Cinder458: And you say I’m shallow. Hey, wait a minute. I played Kyle in the V is for Virgin movie!
EllaTheRealHero: I know.
Cinder458: What??? You seriously thought that guy was hotter than me???
EllaTheRealHero: LOL!!! You are so easy!!!
Cinder458: You’re such a brat!
EllaTheRealHero: That’s why you love me. :)
Cinder458: *sigh* That is true. You’re the only woman in the world who gives me crap. And you’re right. I love you for it. Anyway, enough of that. We’re supposed to be introducing our book and we’re failing miserably.
EllaTheRealHero: Oh yeah. Hey, maybe we should just let Lisa introduce it. She’s an amazing blogger. She’s the one who inspired me to start blogging, you know. I’m sure she’ll do the book way more justice than either of us could.
Cinder458: I don’t know about that. Lisa’s awesome, but you’re a pretty great blogger too.
EllaTheRealHero: You’re biased.
Cinder458: Maybe a little. Hey, you want to go get some dinner and have a Legend of the Seeker marathon?

Sheriff Carlo Diaz: How are you today, Wilhelmina?

Wilhelmina Todd: It's Mina. You know it's Mina. You've worked with my mom for twelve years. Even she doesn't call me Wilhelmina.

Diaz: Okay, Mina, can you tell me about what happened at school today?

Todd: As a witness?

Diaz: Anything you could tell us would be helpful.

Todd: I'm asking if I'm suspected of something. I don't mind if you want to make this conversation inadmissible against me by not waiting for my parents, but-

Diaz: Your mother said something about being tired of being pulled out of work in the middle of the day over things like this and insisted on signing a waiver.

Todd: There’s no such thing.

Diaz: She insisted anyway.

Todd: I see. In other words, she asked you personally to try to scare me as much as possible until she feels like picking me up.

Diaz: Call it what you like. We just need to find out what happened.

Todd: And they call me a criminal.

Diaz: Anything at all you could tell us.

Todd: Well, I arrived in English twenty-two seconds before the tardy bell. Another minute and a half were spent bringing the class to order, after which Mr. James reminded us that we'd left off with page-

Diaz: Are you aware that approximately ten minutes into the drama club meeting, a stage light in the auditorium fell and struck the teacher?

Todd: It's a small school. Everyone is aware of that.

Diaz: And you're aware that the fixture appears to have been sabotaged?

Todd: No, I assumed you were questioning people about a clearcut accident for fun.

Diaz: Was that comment supposed to be sarcastic?

Todd: Did I do it wrong?

Diaz: No, but for your own sake you might want to be clearer for the written record. Can you tell me where you were at 3:30pm?

Todd: Yes.

Diaz: Where were you?

Todd: I was walking home.

Diaz: Can anyone verify that?

Todd: No.

Diaz: No one saw you on the way?

Todd: No one who would remember. Is it illegal not to maintain a social life?

Diaz: I'd heard a rumor you were finally making some headway on one.

Todd: Well, I wasn't today.

Diaz: You wouldn't be trying to protect someone for helping you? Mina? Mina, you could at least pay attention.

Todd: I am.

(Clerk's note: Diaz draws Todd's attention to the meticulous way she has been arranging the change from her pockets on the table. Todd folds her hands and looks directly forward instead.)

Diaz: Are you nervous about something?

Todd: No more than I am every day.

Diaz: What are you nervous about, Mina? Are you afraid of getting in trouble? Or are you worried that you've done something wrong?

(Todd shakes her head)

Diaz: I need you to speak up for the record.

Todd: I'm afraid of... what you should be afraid of. We should... all be afraid...

(After a few moments of silence, Diaz reaches across the table and mixes up the coins)

Diaz: Go nuts.

(Todd becomes noticeably more alert and responsive while rearranging the coins)

Todd: Why do you think I'd attack Mr. Smith?

Diaz: We're all trying to figure that out, Mina. I know your parents are. What do you think? What do you think makes you act out? What makes you want to hurt people?

Todd: I don't hurt people. Mr. Smith wasn’t hurt, was he?

Diaz: How would you know that, if you were already on your way home when it happened?

Todd: How do you know that the light actually struck him if there wasn't a mark on him afterward?

Diaz: Answer the question. How do you know Mr. Smith wasn’t hurt?

Todd: Because I know what he is.

Diaz: And what's that?

Todd: The same thing you know he is, Sheriff. The same thing you know I'm trying to stop, which is the only reason you'd assume I'm behind anything that happens to him. The kind of thing that can have a fifteen pound light fixture fall on it from twenty-one feet above and walk away without a scratch, in front of a roomful of witnesses who'll swear it made contact, who would swear that it caved in his head if they weren't afraid of sounding crazy, of sounding like me.

Diaz: Is that a confession? You were there, and you dropped the light on Mr. Smith's head to prove your delusion that he isn't human?

Todd: I can't confess to crushing his skull when his skull isn't crushed, can I? What good would that do you in court?

Diaz: But you were there, and you did drop the light.

Todd: You don't have to take their deal, Sheriff.

Diaz: Were you in the auditorium when the light fell?

Todd: Do you believe in it?

Diaz: Believe what?

Todd: To protect and serve. Protect and serve people, humans. Do you believe in it? Because if you do, if you're not just in it for your Council seat and extra paycheck, you can still do that. We're doing it. We could use you. Please.

(Diaz stands and gathers the coins, most of which Todd has balanced on their edges, into the bag of personal effects already containing Todd's purse and two unfinished lanyards.)

Diaz: Empty your pockets.

Todd: Don't you need-

Diaz: We have your mother's permission.

Todd: I'd... like to see... evidence of that.

Diaz: She's also given us permission to restrain you if necessary.

(With hesitation, Todd stands up and empties onto the table half a dozen pens, two lighters, a pair of pliers, a bottle of nail polish remover, a tangle of hairpins, and a pocket collection of brain teasers.)

Diaz: Phone.

Todd: It's in the bag.

Diaz: The other one.

Todd: Sheriff, please don't do this again.

(Todd turns her back, removes a phone from under her shirt, and adds it to the pile. Diaz transfers the pile to the bag.)

Diaz: We have time to try this a few more times before your mother gets here. Think hard. See if you can remember anything.

Todd: Please don't leave me in here with nothing to do again.

(Todd takes a step toward Diaz but makes no threatening moves. She turns toward the wall instead and begins tracing the cracks in it with her fingers with evident agitation.)

Todd: I had to try with you. I had to try.

Todd has made no further comments regarding this incident.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself!
a. My name is Liz Emerson.  Junior. Coerced into doing this interview for the newspaper (which no one actually reads, I hope you know that) so I don’t fail English.  Screw you very much, Mr. Schumacher. Just edit this out and add whatever you want. Um, soccer captain, member of National Honor Society, yearbook photographer.

2. What is your favorite childhood memory?
a. I guess there’s not one thing in particular. Just put something generic down. Helping my mom make cookies or something. I don’t know. This isn’t worth passing English. Okay, so I guess there were these times—Wednesdays—when my dad would take me to this scenic tower close to our house. We’d make wishes on whatever was around—dandelions in the summer, leaves in autumn, snowflakes in the winter, sunshine in the spring. Every single time, I wished to fly. It was so easy to believe that all of our wishes could come true back then, wasn’t it? So easy.

3. What do you like to do in your spare time?
a. What spare time? Thanks to our brilliant English teacher, I’m spending whatever time I have writing that stupid essay for whatever we’re reading—what is it, Othello? I’m going to Sparknotes it after this. I play soccer, I guess. Run. Party with Julia and Kennie. Burn down houses, kick puppies. Oh, and I like that one TV show with the douchebag prince and the dwarf. You know, everyone dies.

4. Who is your real-life hero, and why?
a. Mr. Schumacher’s beer belly. George Washington. I don’t know. Whatever the right answer is. Newton was pretty cool, I guess, lifelong virginity aside. He had damn good hair. Not good enough to get him laid—but I guess his passion was pretty inspiring.  I mean, whatever he saw in science was apparently better than sex.

5. What’s in your refrigerator right now? On your closet floor? In your garbage can?
a. The usual stuff? Food in the fridge, a few boxes of Pizzaritos, probably. Leftovers from that Italian place downtown. Half a pie, maybe? And on my closet floor, mostly just clothes. My copy of Othello, probably. Phone charger, shoes. That box of chocolate from the National Honor Society fundraiser. Don’t print that. I forgot to pay for it.

6. If you could relive your “greatest hits,” what would they be?
a. This interview for the newspaper.  This one time Julia and I went running in the rain and jumped in Barry’s pond. State fairs, I guess, and eating actual diabetes in the form of fried pickles. Trips to the beach, maybe. I don’t know. I don’t know that there’s anything I’d really want to relive.

Nichole Chase: Hi David. Thank you for coming out!
David: Thank you for having me.

Nichole Chase: How are you adjusting to Lilaria?
David: Everyone is so friendly. It’s been easy. Except for the language. Thankfully most of them are willing to speak English or are patient with me as I fumble through Lilarian.

Nichole Chase: Any cultural transitions?
David: Not really. Or I’m just not noticing that I’m doing something wrong. *laughs*

Nichole Chase: I understand you grew up on a farm in the state of Georgia. I currently live in the South. Is there anything you miss from home?
David: Peach cobbler and shorter winters.

Nichole Chase: There is something special about a good peach cobbler. Is there anything you like about Lilaria better than back at home?
David: Things just have a different feel here. I wouldn’t say anything was better, just different.

Nichole Chase: I know you’re currently heading several programs in the Future Bird Trust. Is it weird to be working for Princess Samantha? You’ve been friends for a long time.
David: I don’t know that I work for her, as much as I work alongside her. We’ve speared headed several of the newer programs together. Thankfully, I have more hands on jobs with the animals.

Nichole Chase: I have a few questions to ask you from the readers. Would you mind?
David: Go ahead.

Nichole Chase: Your favorite animal?
David: Owl.

Nichole Chase: Favorite sport?
David: Baseball.

Nichole Chase: Do you prefer movies or books?
David: I love to read, but nothing beats a good zombie movie.

Guys, thanks for taking time out from your busy schedules to visit with me. 

I'm ready to get started... how about we jump right in?

So, I thought I'd start off with a question for both of you... what's it feel like having your story out there for everyone to read?
Phillip: Kinda Crazy but I like it.
Reese: Yeah, its weird but it’s a great story I think.

I'm sure you'd heard all different things from friends and family, so was there anything either of you were worried about with so many people being able to read all about this time of your lives?
Reese: we have a lot of sex.
::Grinning:: Phillip: oh yeah, lots and lots of sex.

Looking back during that time, is there anything you wish you would have done differently?
Reese: I wish I wouldn’t have held back for so long.
Phillip: yeah, me too.

What was the most important thing each of you learned about the other during your Breaking Away lives?
Phillip: her heart, it shines.
Reese: yeah, he cares so much about everyone.

Could you each describe the other in three words from what you thought of each other at the beginning of your story?
Phillip: I want to do her…whoa too many words….Holy hot ass
Reese: holy hot ass?? What the hell? Ugh, I thought, big dick maybe?

MKC: You shoot a majority of your films on location. Do you have a favorite city?
EC: I’ve traveled all over the world with my career. Of all the movies I’ve done I think my favorite city might have been New Orleans. As you know, a lot happened on the Masquerade set, so it meant a lot to all of us to be able to complete that movie. New Orleans is a fun town. Some good bars in the Quarter I highly recommend.

MKC: Now that another successful movie has wrapped, tell us a little about your next project.
EC: I’m trying to focus on my charity, the Carlson Foundation, which helps at-risk youth get involved in sports. I’m reading a few scripts right now, but I haven’t committed to another film quite yet.

MKC: Our readers know you were a college football star before you became an actor, but explain how the two roles are similar. Did playing football prepare you for some of your more daredevil-like roles? How did it help mold you into the leading man you are today?
EC: I’ll tell you what, I feel some of those football injuries when I’m working on stunts. Seriously, it helps to have an athletic background in my films that are more physical. I think it gives me a sense of discipline since I’m used to training, practices, and paying attention to my body. I learned to handle a lot of pressure on the football field, believe it or not that comes into play in my life now more than ever.

MKC: What's your favorite part about being an actor? (Besides getting to spend so much time with all the lovely ladies like Emmy Harper).
EC: I really enjoy taking on new roles and working on my character. I guess that’s why I take on so many different parts. I can be a spy one day and a baseball player the next. It’s pretty awesome.
 
MKC: What's the most challenging aspect of being an actor and Hollywood's Most Eligible Bachelor for that matter?
EC: I don’t want to disappoint my fans or my family. There are parts of this business that make it hard to make everyone happy. As for the bachelor part, I try not to think about it. I’m just here to have a good time.

MKC: If you had to pick an entirely new career that didn't involve Hollywood or football, what would it be and why?
EC: That’s a good question. I’d like to think I’d be doing something really cool, but probably I’d end up in my hometown of Brees running for mayor or something.

MKC: Describe what your perfect day would be like.
EC: My favorite days are the ones I can spend on my ranch with my buddies, drinking beer, and just hanging out.

MKC: Throw our female readers and your fans a hint of hope. How serious are things really getting with Emmy Harper?
EC: Aw, they don’t really care about that do they, darlin’? Emmy and I had a good time working on Masquerade and I’ll just leave it at that.

What do you look for in a person?

A sense of humor.

What is the worst mistake of your life?

 I let someone amazing slip through my fingers. I think I made the right decision for her, but it was a crappy decision for me.

What do you think is important in a relationship?

Sex. Lots of incredible sex. Okay, I’m kidding. No I’m not. Seriously, I think compromising is important—just being on the same page with each other. Relationships will never work if you aren’t on a mutual path. I’ve definitely learned that.

What song are you obsessing over right now?

This spring I was in a coffee shop meeting with a study group. There was a song playing by Beck. It’s an old song, called Loser.  That song intrigues the hell out of me. The lyrics make NO SENSE. I’m a Beck fan in general, so I did some research, and the lead singer claims that’s the point of the song. It’s not supposed to make sense. They are just random lines meant to get a rise out of people, to surprise them, to entertain them and keep their attention. I think that’s a great metaphor for life in general. And it’s a pretty awesome song.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Dylan said something to me a few years ago that I’ll never forget. She reminded me to stop taking myself so seriously. She said you need to take life seriously, but not yourself. She’s right. Focusing on yourself is detrimental to your happiness.

Do you think you will play professional baseball?

That seems to be my calling. Baseball has always come naturally to me. I like the control on the field, it’s so different from how out of control it is in the real world. The field is my escape. I love being at the pitcher’s mound and staring down a batter. I love the feeling of striking him out. It’s a strange sort of therapy.

If you couldn’t play baseball, what would you do?

I don’t know. I’d probably stalk Dylan and see what she’s up to.

What is your strength?

I have a really good memory. It’s hard for me to forget anything. Or anyone.

What is your weakness?

If you had to pick a musician to write a soundtrack to your life, who would it be?

That’s tough because my mood changes and so does my taste in music. If I’m having a bad day, I would say Eminem. If I’m inspired, then probably The Killers. But I think I would have to go with Ryan Adams.

First question is for Gray. What brings you to the Woodlands?

My former Marine buddies are living here and going to Central College. My end of service (EOS) is nearing and I need to either reenlist or separate from the Marines. I figured getting away from the base and my family would allow me to make a decision free of distractions. That turned out to be a wrong calculation because I met this girl and she was the biggest distraction of all--but in the best way.

Sam, you are not really prepared meeting Gray for the first time - although who would be prepared when a guy literally sweeps you off your feet! What are your initial thoughts about this hard bodied Marine - is he good for a quick hookup or something more?

I thought he was going to be my entry into the dating world--one that I had never really been a part of--so I definitely expected any encounter to be short term. What caught me off guard was how much I wanted my connections to him to last.

Gray, you are a military man, but have the choice to re-up or become a civilian life. Which way are you leaning? How does Sam factor in?

Sam factors in a huge way but not for the reasons you might first think. She's really level headed and sometimes sees me more clearly than I can which helps making decisions a lot easier.

Sam, what is your absolute favorite (non naughty) activity to do with Gray? 

I just enjoy being in his company. When he comes home and settles in to watch the game, I enjoy sitting right next to him, knitting. Having him with me is a thrill all its own.

Gray, you are a thrill seeker - enjoying rock climbing and sky diving. What do you find thrilling about Sam?

Ha! In a non naughty way? She's just eternally optimistic in that good things are always going be there for you if you keep living, keep putting yourself out there.

Sam, how does knowing Gray change you?

He's like a rock so it's easier for me to take chances knowing I have him to fall back to.

Gray, if you could say one thing to Sam to let her know how much you care, what would it be?

I'm so glad you never gave up on me and you're the most courageous person I know to risk your heart like you did.
