Synopsis: Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black...

For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He's a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn't care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.

23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it's an absence of moments. She's like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other... to fill the void that her father left in her.

Until she meets Dominic.

After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.

Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated... they've learned a priceless lesson.
Sometimes, before we fall... we fly.

Character Interview:

Hi Jacey! Thanks for stopping to chat with me today. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to visit.

Thank YOU for having me!

How about we get started?

I often wonder how it feels to have your story out there for the world to read. Could you tell us how you feel now that your story is published?

I feel okay.  After a certain part of my story was published in IF YOU LEAVE, I felt a bit embarrassed.  I effed up pretty good back then and so it felt really good to have another light shed on me…. Where I finally got my shit together.  It was nice that people were able to see me grow.

What did you think of Dominic when you first met him?

The first time I saw him, I thought, “Holy shit—he’s beautiful”.  But very shortly after that, I thought, “Holy shit—he’s such an asshole!”  And he was.  And he knows now that he was.  He did a lot of growing too.

Without giving too much away, when you look back on things do you think there was a specific moment when your relationship with Dominic changed that you might not have seen at the time but is obvious now?

I think that it made a big impact on him when I jumped in front of that cougar in the Grand Canyon.  I didn’t realize at the time exactly he saw it.  At that time, he truly believed that people were innately selfish and horrible at heart.  When I jumped in front of that cougar, I did it without even thinking.  I was afraid…. And I acted.  But he never thought that anyone would do something like that… and it really made him re-think his opinion of me.

Did you ever think that your life would be so altered by someone like Dominic? And in turn did you ever think you’d be able to affect someone like Dominic as much as you have?

I never would have EVER thought that my life would’ve turned out like this.  I used to make such bad, reckless decisions.  I worried that I would ever pull it together.  Dominic and I…. I can’t believe how we helped each other.  We really did heal each other…just by being ourselves.  It’s mind blowing to me.

How about telling us what a day in the life of Jacey is like?

Ha!  Well, I hate early mornings.  Luckily, I know my new boss pretty well, so I don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn for work.  But I get up around 7:30, have coffee, get ready--- and then I go to work. I have my dream job now—working in business development. Who would’ve ever thought that I would be so responsible?  Haha.    And then every night, I get to go home to the most beautiful actor on the planet.  We like to sit on the veranda and drink wine under the moon.  We also skinny-dip a lot.  :)

And lastly, with the holiday’s right around the corner, what are your plans for New Years Eve?

Dominic and I have to attend a charity function for his work, but after that…. I have no idea.  Dominic is going to surprise me with something.  He said that I’ll need a sexy black dress and a passport. Since he’s got his own jet, the possibilities are endless.

Jacey, thanks again for answering these questions. It’s been fun and you are more than welcome to drop back in anytime.

Thank you so much for having me!!  This was fun. :)

About Courtney Cole:

Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people.

Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.
