Synopsis: Ever since the car accident that killed his twin brother, Marshall Windsor has been consumed with guilt and crippled by secrets of that fateful night. He has only one chance to make amends, to right his wrongs and set things right. He must find a Thin Space—a mythical point where the barrier between this world and the next is thin enough for a person to step through to the other side.

But, when a new girl moves into the house next door, the same house Marsh is sure holds a thin space, she may be the key—or the unraveling of all his secrets.

As they get closer to finding a thin space—and closer to each other—Marsh must decide once and for all how far he’s willing to go to right the wrongs of the living…and the dead.

Interview:

Recording of an interview with Marsh Windsor for the Andover Clarion at Andover High School.

"Andover Clarion Student Spotlight for October"
--Megan Woods reporting

Megan: Hey, Marsh. Before we start I just wanted to say how sorry I am--and everyone at the Clarion--we just feel awful about what happened to you and your brother Austin last summer.

Marsh: Yeah. Uh. Thanks.

Megan: So you probably don't want to talk about the car accident...

Marsh: No. Not really. No.

Megan: Okay, this is awkward, but some of us have been wondering, well, I'll just say it straight out: why the bare feet?

Marsh: What do you mean?

Megan: You're, um, not wearing shoes? Since August, you've been walking around school barefoot.

Marsh: You noticed that?

Megan: Yeah, well...

Marsh: Because I thought people would be looking at the gruesome scars tracking all over my face and maybe not notice my lack of footwear.

Megan: Oh. Sorry. We--sorry, really. I was just wondering, though, because it's been getting kind of cold outside lately. This doesn't bother you?

Marsh: Nope.

Megan: And Mr. O'Donnell, he's okay with that? You walking around barefoot at school?

Marsh: I guess so. He hasn't said anything to me. What? Is it a school rule?

Megan: Apparently, it isn't. So, you know the drill--every month the Clarion shines a spotlight on a random student! And this month it's you!

Marsh: Right. Great.

Megan: Can you tell us a little about yourself? Like, what's your favorite subject? What movies do you like? Favorite color? That kind of thing.

Marsh: Let me ask YOU something, Megan. Did you ever hear of thin spaces?

Megan: Thin spaces?

Marsh: It's this ancient Celtic belief that there are places where the wall between our world and the other world is thinner.

Megan: Other world?

Marsh: The spiritual world. The world of the dead.

Megan: No, Marsh. I haven't heard of thin spaces. So. Your favorite color. What can I put down for that?

Marsh: My old neighbor, Mrs. Hansel, she told me about them and then I found this book. Curious Accounts of the Thin Space. Some guy interviewed people who found thin spaces back in the 1800's and asked them what it was like to see their, uh, loved ones who died.

Megan: Wow. That's interesting. How about TV shows?  What's your favorite TV--

Marsh: It's cold inside a thin space, is what those people said. Misty and cold.

Megan: Um. Foods? What's you favorite food? Pizza is what most guys say. Can I put pizza down as your favorite food?

Marsh: If you find a thin space, Megan, you can go through to the other side, try to fix things.

Megan: Okaaaay, so what about sports? You played football last year. I guess you're not going to, I mean, I guess you can't play--

Marsh: No.

Megan: Marsh? Are you okay?

Marsh: Yeah. No. You know what, I can't do this anymore.

Megan: All right. Sorry, Marsh. Really. Maybe we'll try again another time.
