Story #2 - Red

Where I come from, there is a monster. Everyone had laughed it off as a legend. And then the wolf attacked. The wolf killed nearly half the town before he slunk back into the woods that border our village. They say that the wolf is a curse, placed upon our villages founder after he killed a innocent girl. Now, every year, the wolf attacks. There is only one way to stop it. To send a girl into the woods. And to have the wolf kill that girl. It is the only way.

Story #3 - Snatcher

As I close my eyes I see the hunter closing in on me. I am running for my life yet again. Stumbling through the trees and branches on all fours. When I open my eyes again I notice that I further away from safety than I want to be. He is too close for me to change back to the human state without giving away identity, not to mention the secret of wolves that generations before me have fought so hard to keep. I glance to my left and to my right. Nothing, but a snow covered terrain. No trees, no hills nothing to hide behind.

And during this time there was a young boy whose daddy made his livin' as a sideshow clown. Also his grandaddy had done the same, it was a tradition in the boy's family, and everyone expected Charlie to follow in his sire's footsteps.

Story #7 - A Nightmare

The night is uncommonly frigid for fall and as I stumble down the forever winding driveway of Daphne’s house I can feel the cold seeping through my dress and into my bones where it settles and takes root sending aching shivers through my body. This whole night has been a series of stupid mistakes, one right after the other.

Story #8 - Walking Home

Wolves lurked in shadows of the woods, faeries lingered in household gardens, and mermaids waited to drown unsuspecting swimmers. She never meant to give me nightmares; she was just passing along her heritage.

Story #9 - Hollow Heart

I found Charles with his bare knees buried in the frosty grass, his cheek frozen against the icy headstone, but I did nothing. It was James that helped him, blowing out the flame in his lantern and using the rising sun as light to carry his shivering friend home.“Have you had another dream?” he asked after he'd bundled Charles in blankets and set alight the logs of the fire.
