Check out my review of: The Collector (Dante Walker, #1)
Synopsis: Bad boy, meet bad girl.
Dante has a shiny new cuff wrapped around his ankle, and he doesn't like that mess one bit. His new accessory comes straight from Big Guy himself and marks the former demon as a liberator. Despite his gritty past and bad boy ways, Dante Walker has been granted a second chance.
When Dante is given his first mission as a liberator to save the soul of seventeen-year-old Aspen, he knows he’s got this. But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long…and old demons die hard.
With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves.
Review: 5 Stars - The Liberator, the second title in the Dante Walker series by author Victoria Scott is sure to be another HUGE hit! If you thought The Collector was filled with everything that makes a book a favorite, you haven’t seen anything yet! Scott kicks Dante and Charlie’s story up many, many notches which gives their lives and relationship a 3D feel. I know I felt it more so than the first book and I’m sure everyone else will too.
When we last left Dante and Charlie in the Collector Dante was given a chance by the Big Guy up above to be a Liberator. Yes, he’s a demon but now he’s been given a chance to fight for the good guys. To say that Dante is struggling with his inner demons, if you will is an understatement. He’s fighting for his girl and he’s fighting to figure out who he is in this war between good and evil.
It’s watching this struggle that we see a different side of our favorite cocky bad boy; but fear not, he’s still the same D-Dub that we know and have fallen in love with.
Since becoming a Liberator he’s been bucking the system and when he’s given no choice but to take his first mission to save the soul of Aspen we see even more of his inner struggles. His relationship with Charlie is tested which just makes him question and struggle with his thoughts and feelings even more so. I seriously felt for the guy. At times it almost felt heart breaking.
The Liberator is the perfect second title to this much loved series. I was frustrated while reading until about a quarter of the way through but I had to get through that rough bit to better understand just what Dante was dealing with. Not to worry, I wasn’t frustrated because it was bad or anything; it was more a frustration because I felt bad for what my favorite Demon was going through at the time. There were other frustrating things but I’d rather not say what for fear of spoiling, so I’ll just leave it at that.
It’s so hard writing this review without giving too much away but there’s so much more to this book that I could have ever imagined. Everything is so much bigger; so much more emotions ran through me while reading. There’s more struggles, love, romance, fights, new characters and new bad guys that the Liberator is one of those titles that I couldn’t read fast enough, yet didn’t want to read TOO fast because I didn’t want it to end. We all know when we finish a book we love in a series we love even more by one of our favorite authors that the hardest part is saying goodbye until the next book. It’s the wait that kills us and this will without a doubt be the hardest wait for me because I just love this series THAT much.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… over and over if you ask me… Scott knows how to write an ultimate bad boy to make your knees weak and your heart swoon. He’s been seared into my heart and my head and The Liberator has cemented his spot there. Scott is without a doubt a favorite author of mine. She’s an auto-buy and an author I’ll always been scrambling to read more of. I highly recommend anything she writes and I hope if you haven’t checked out the Collector and the Liberator yet, you’ll not wait another day. Enjoy!
