They fell in love, despite her family and his past and all the reasons why it wouldn't work--and with their best friends, they made a life. Everyone was supposed to live happily ever after. They, more than anyone, knows that life doesn't go according to plan.

Rike and Peyton fell in love in college. A boy with a guitar, and a poet's heart, and a girl with freckles dusted over her nose, a perfect fucking fairy tale.

New Adult Contemporary Romance
Release June 2, 2014
Pre-order on iBooks

NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+
Synopsis: Fall to You is the second book in the Here and Now series. It is not a stand-alone and is intended to be read following Lost in Me. Hanna’s story concludes in book three, All for This.

Torn between two men…

When I woke up after the accident, I couldn’t remember anything from the last year—including my relationship with Max Hallowell or anything about Nate Crane. Now my memories are returning, but instead of answering my questions, they’re leaving me with more.

The man who broke my heart and wants to be my future…

Max is all I ever wanted, and now he wants to marry me. He’ll do everything he can to fill my life with love, family, and security. I need those things now more than ever. But can I trust him?

The man who stole my heart and wants to let me go…

Nate never made me promises, and I never asked him to. I’d been on the rebound, looking for a distraction, and he made me feel beautiful and wanted when I needed to feel those things most. He says he has to let me go, but what if I can’t let go of him?

With every revelation and every passing day, I feel more like Alice down the rabbit hole. I’m falling. Who will catch me?

Excerpt:

          Three Months before Hanna’s Accident

“I want to introduce you to Nate Crane.”
I lift my head and suddenly I’m sucking in air because my eyes are connected with the man who flirted with me earlier. He’d had a hat and sunglasses on in the bar, and I hadn’t recognized him, but this time his identity is clear.
“Hanna, this is Nate Crane. Nate, this is Hanna, my sister.”
His eyes sweep over me the way a guy’s eyes are supposed to sweep over a girl. The way Asher’s eyes sweep over Maggie every time she enters a room. The way William’s eyes sweep over Cally when he doesn’t think she’s looking. It sends a little buzz through me that’s not quite a chill but not quite electric either. Just a nice, warm shimmy of sensation that starts at my core and radiates out through my limbs.
Then I check behind me because I’m sure I’m mistaken. He was just playing around at the bar, right? I mean, guys don’t look at me like that. They look at my sisters like that; they look at my best friends like that.
“Maggie never told me her sister was so gorgeous,” Nate says, putting an end to any debate over his attraction to me.
My cheeks warm with a flush I can feel all the way from my chest to my hairline.
“Maggie, I did tell you I have a thing for sweet girls who blush, didn’t I? Is she my birthday present? I’d say you shouldn’t have, but I’d be lying.” He says all this without taking his eyes off me. His gaze drifts over me again, slower this time, lingering at my waist, my hips, my feet in strappy, heeled sandals. “I was a good boy this year. I deserve her.”
Maggie thumps him in the chest with the back of her hand. “She’s a woman, not some trinket or object that can be given.”
“Oh,” he says, his voice so low I can barely make it out, “I noticed she’s a woman.”
“We met earlier,” I say quickly. “In the bar. He’s just teasing.”
Maggie huffs. “Deserve or not, you can’t have her. Hanna has a boyfriend.”
Oh, no. No, Hanna doesn’t. But I didn’t tell Maggie about Max. It hurt too much to share what I’d learned. I’m too proud to share it. And if I want to keep our split a secret, I couldn’t really tell her if I wanted to. I can’t risk telling anyone.
Nate takes my hand, clearly undeterred by the mention of competition. “Tell me she’s lying. Please? It’s my birthday tomorrow.”
“And you wanted me to jump out of a cake for you?” I retort, but I let him play with my fingers and try to keep my breathing steady. His touch brings back something I didn’t think anyone but Max could make me feel.
          “I wouldn’t complain.”
I’m fresh out of spunk, and stare stupidly. Nate Crane is six feet some-odd inches of deliciously tatted, freshly showered rocker. In ripped-up jeans and a Star Wars tee, he exudes a geekiness that’s only amplified by the tattoos peeking out from under the sleeves. The rest of him is essentially a catalogue of every woman’s fantasy. Broad shoulders, narrow hips, shaggy, dark hair still wet from his shower and curling slightly at the ends. Those intense eyes that seem to be smiling at me as he follows the lines of my palm with his calloused fingertips. He hadn’t really been on my radar until this year, when he started performing with Asher at a lot of his tour stops. They’re old friends, apparently.
“You didn’t tell me you were a rock star,” I murmur.
“You didn’t tell me you have a boyfriend,” he counters.

EXCERPT:

Eli Blue

“Deacon! Deacon! Deacon!” the hoard of girls chanted, as they pushed and shoved, trying to get closer to the empty stage.

The unmistakable sound of a Fender Stratocaster echoed through the small arena, inciting the masses even further.  The crowd was a living, breathing entity all its own that swayed and surged with every note.  As the opening guitar solo edged forward, I could smell sweet excitement filling the air; unfortunately, the scent was dampened by sweat and stale beer.

“C’mon, hurry your ass up!” I shouted to my friend, Willow, before I started weaving through the flesh-hungry mob. Willow wrapped her arms around my waist trying not to get trampled.

After elbowing every single person in our path, we finally reached the barricade a few feet from the stage. Immediately, we were greeted by a snarling security guard that wasn’t happy to see us ascending into sacred territory.  He held up his hands in a silent plea for us to stop, which did nothing but make me roll my eyes.  I’d never felt entitled to things in my life; however, free reign at this place was a given, and the only thing I ever demanded.

I flashed the sweetest smile I could manage, and was just about to inform him who my dad was, when a man dressed in a business suit gestured for the guard to let us pass.  I smiled at the suit and he returned the gesture with a nod of his head just before he disappeared behind a door leading under the stage.  Realization of who I was, or actually who my dad was, flooded over the guard’s face.  His eyes grew wide and reverence appeared – with a touch of pity.

“That never gets old.” Willow yelled in my ear over the screams and hollers for the concert to begin.

“What?” I shouted back.

“When they finally realize you’re someone important and retreat.” She laughed.

I shook my head. “But I’m not.” I informed her.

“Yes, you are, Elizabeth, and it won’t be long ‘til I’m someone special, too.” She said with a wink.

I rolled my eyes at her before turning my attention back to the stage just as a single light began to rise.  The guitar solo slowly faded and was followed by the pounding of a kick drum.  Boom, boom, boom.  I could feel my heart mirror the slow, methodical beat.  Boom, boom, boom.

Anticipation built within me causing heat to cover my body, and sweat to roll down the middle of my back.  Music always had a way of exciting me.  I’d grown up with it - I’d never known anything different.  Even when I’d been shielded from its harsh glare, a constant rhythm still flowed through my veins.

A shadowy figure appeared at the center microphone directly in front of us.

“Oh shit there he is, there he is!” Willow screamed, jumping up and down.

I burst into laughter because I’d never seen her act like this before.

“Damn girl, calm down! He’s just some lead singer.  We’ve definitely met our fair share before.” I placed my hands on her shoulders forcing her to calm down.

She pointed toward the stage, “Duke’s different—dear Lord is he different.  Just wait ‘til you hear him sing and you’ll be ready to rip his clothes off, too.”

“Fuck me, Duke!” echoed behind me.  I turned to see a leggy blonde with the brightest red lips I’d ever seen, flashing her tits at the stage.  I’d never understand how any woman thought that would help her chances at snagging a man.  Sleazy desperation was never attractive on anyone, no matter how much lipstick you tried to cover it with.

A low, sexy growl came through the sound system, drawing my attention back to the stage.  Standing center stage was a towering man wearing nothing but black leather pants.  His long blonde hair hung down his back and teased the crowd by subtly camouflaging his muscles that appeared to bulge in all the right places.

“That’s him, that’s him.” Willow shouted, digging her nails into my upper arm.
I shrugged my shoulders, “Yeah, he looks good, but I need to hear him first.”

“He plays guitar, too. Don’t worry, I wouldn’t drag you here for a singer that didn’t play, too.”

I smiled at my best friend because she knew me well. Although I tried hard not to pass judgment on him before I actually heard him sing, his clichĂ© appearance was definitely a strike against him.  He was too flashy for what I wanted.  I wanted old fashioned musicians that played for the love of their craft.  Not someone that was just in it for the glitz and glam.

Willow dragged me here tonight in hopes I’d sign her favorite new band to my dad’s management company; technically, it was my management company now, even though I refused to call it that.  Savage Man had become mine four years ago on my eighteenth birthday.  Before that my mother almost ran it into the ground from the day her guardianship of me granted her the right.

My dad hadn’t been a part of my life since all the glitz and glam took him from me when I was barely thirteen years old. Not nearly old enough to know how his absence would affect my entire world, let alone how he’d want me to lead his brainchild.

Willow’s band, The Elle’s, was the first band I signed when I officially started working at Savage Man full time last month, after graduating college.  An all girl rock band, no one could go wrong with the way these girls looked, not to mention their amount of talent.  Simply, they kicked ass.  The only problem was the estrogen induced drama that occurred on a daily basis. But Willow had been the only constant in my life, and I’d do anything to help her achieve her dreams.

“Hey, are you even listening to him?” Willow whined.

“I’m listening,” I snapped. I was definitely listening, and his voice was impressive.  Clear and smooth, just like she’d said it was.

The bridge of the song played and the lead guitar picked up, sending chills dancing across my skin.  I moved to my left and on to my tiptoes, trying to peer over the tall stage, but couldn’t see the guitar player.  His half of the stage was too dark; the only beam of light focused on Duke, who was busy grinding his hips in the direction of every female he could find.

“Deacon Chastain.” Willow said with a huge smile.  “That’s who you’re looking for over there.  He doesn’t come out of the shadows very often.  Apparently he likes to sulk back there and be all broody.”

“He’s damn good.  Why didn’t you tell me about him?”

Her eyes gleamed with orneriness. “Because I wanted you to discover him for yourself. Just wait; there’s a hell of a lot more to see.”

Song, after song played and I still hadn’t seen more than a glimpse of Deacon through his shroud of darkness.  Still, the sounds that came from his guitar kept me entranced.  I’d stopped listening to the song as a whole, only feeling the vibrations of his picked guitar strings darting through my core.  They felt so familiar, like I’d never listened to anyone, other than him, play.

“We are Unforgiven, and we hope we rocked you as hard as you rocked us tonight.  If not, be sure and let us know, so we can tell you to go fuck yourself.” Duke shouted and the crowd cheered. “Ladies, don’t forget the line for the backstage freaky train forms to your left by the big bald security guard. As always, the last song of the night goes to our fearless founder and leader, Deacon.”

I expected the crowd to go wild with more sexual favor declarations from the half-naked Barbie’s all around me, but there was only complete silence.  Duke dropped the mic with a shrill shriek, and the entire room immediately went black.

A dim light from the back of the stage slowly arced across the venue, stopping and illuminating someone sitting on a bar stool with a black hoodie pulled over his head.  Now backlit, the figure became a dark and menacing presence. A microphone stood in front of him, waiting to be used, while a large guitar rested on his leg.  Willow pulled on my arm and moved closer.

“That’s Deacon.” She said softly into my ear. “This is their end of the show tradition - same song at the end of every show.”

The sound of his knuckles cracking filtered through the stillness as a bright spotlight illuminated the front of his guitar.  I gasped.  It was my guitar; my dad’s guitar.  I knew every single inch of my dad’s guitar and this was identical, even down to the bright blue details.  I felt my heart fall to the floor, shattering into a million jagged pieces.  He was another one, another guitar player obsessed with my dad.  I found them everywhere, or more accurately, they found me.  I think some of them had a tracking device attached to my ass with how quickly they could locate me.  I’d spent my life fighting off Kirk Savage wannabes.  Which never made sense to me—I’m his daughter, so their path to becoming my “Rock God” dad should not include them vying to be in my pants.

I heard Deacon slowly inhale then let out a long, steady stream of air.  Not a nervous gesture, but a prayer for strength.  He lightly strummed his guitar and the sound invaded my senses.  He played a slow, light melody that had tears burning my eyes.

His fingers moved over the smooth strings, creating one of the most genuine sounds I’d ever heard—every movement of his hand giving voice to the desires of his heart. I’d been around enough musicians to know that was the only way a mere human could compose such a melody, and in that moment, our hearts were beating to the same rhythm.

His voice rang through the calm bar and every eye was turned, hanging on his every word.  His voice was light and rough, his words ran together, just barely clear enough to understand.
Take her now; you need her more than I
She hasn’t ever truly been mine
Strike your claim; it’s been too long
I’ve been fighting, but you’ve won
There’s no way, don’t hide your eyes
Unused, unwanted, unclaimed

Some of my earliest memories were of me, sitting cross legged in the middle of my dad’s studio, intently watching the faces of musicians as they poured their heart and soul into their gift.  My dad used to say, if the fans didn’t feel like they’d lived an entire lifetime in his shoes after he performed, then he needed to find another job.  “Maybe an accountant,” he’d joke, “they don’t need emotions.”

Music has always been the driving force in my life.  It soothed my fears when I was overcome, and guided the way when I was lost.  I looked to music like a religious man looks to his God – and it had yet to let me down.  If Deacon’s face wasn’t covered by the darkness, I knew I would see every emotion evoked by his words.  Music was easy, life was hard.  Each haunting syllable he uttered crawled deep into my soul.

“Holy shit, are you crying?” Willow shrieked from beside me, and then laughed.

I touched my cheeks and felt wetness; I hadn’t even realized I was crying.  I wiped it away before turning to look at her.

“No, I wasn’t crying.  Are you crazy?”

“Bullshit Elizabeth, you were freaking cryin’ and don’t try to deny it.” She pointed her finger in my face and shook her head at me.

“Whatever, c’mon.” I said, looping our arms together and heading toward backstage. “Do you, or do you not, want to meet Duke?”

“Damn right I’m gonna meet him; gotta meet him before I can make him put a ring on it.”
She said with a laugh.

TWO Playlist:

Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for hosting me on your FABULOUS blog for my playlist post! TWO’s playlist is so near and dear to my heart, and I’m so glad I get to share it with you!

I’ve warned everyone that Elias, TWO’s narrator, is pretty romantic and emo, and I think that’s definitely reflected in this playlist.  Far and away, THE song of this playlist, Elias’s personal anthem, is “Below My Feet” by Mumford & Sons. It’s a prayer for everything to be still and stable, with the feeling that he would do anything to get to that place. I played it hundreds of times during edits – that’s how deeply it spoke to me, and this character.  So without further ado…

1.       “Better Off as Two” by Nick Flora – This song was written by the artist especially for ONE and TWO. It captures them so perfectly, in lyrics and mood, that it makes me tear up every time. Here, you can listen to a sample and even download it!
2.       “Firefly” by Ed Sheeran – Besides the fact that one of Mer and Elias’s falling-in-love moments involved catching fireflies, I think the lyrics and tone of this song perfectly capture the fragility of early, intense love.
3.       “Sinner’s Sonnet” by Andrew Whitman – A simple song about having to leave a home you’re not sure you’re ready to leave yet.
4.       “You and I” by Ingrid Michaelson – Capturing the careful optimism of striking it out in the world alone with the person you love.
5.       “Distance” by Christina Perri – Here’s some angst! This is about desperately wanting to be closer to someone even when you know they need you to be farther away.
6.       “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver – Another angsty-lyriced, yet chill, tune about the worry that someone might not love you as much as you love them.
7.       “Rivers and Roads” by the Head and the Heart – A sad, but faithful, song about wanting to be with someone you love.
8.       “Meteor Shower” by  Owl City – A carryover from the ONE soundtrack, an uplifting song about how one person can change the entire fabric of your being.
9.       “We Are In Love” by Cider Sky – A sunshiny, yet slow song. This just sounds like Merrin and Elias.
10.   “Below My Feet” by Mumford and Sons – This just grabbed me and never let me go. Still hasn’t. (Hold out for the third and final chorus. Chokes me up every time.)

Leigh Ann, thanks for stopping by today to share this awesome playlist! Some amazing songs and some new to me songs that I'm looking forward to checking out soon!

         My heart jumps to life.
How have I become so hooked on a guy I met yesterday?  But watching him park his truck and hop out, I know how.  Nobody’s ever done half as much for me, and he doesn’t even know me.  He’s a good person, and I haven’t known many of those.
On his way to the front door, he stops when he spots us.  “Hey!” His smile’s genuine, and fills his whole face.  He jogs across the yard to meet us.
After seeing his room, I half-expect him to be wearing a superhero t-shirt, but there’s none today, just a plain white t-shirt covered in dirt.  He’s filthy.  “All moved in?” he asks.
“Yeah.”  I watch his tall frame moving toward me, his jeans shifting with each stride, his shirt hugging his chest.  I stop the stroller as he reaches us.  “I love the paint color and the privacy wall.  Thanks.”
He bends down, leaning his head in the stroller.  His fingers wrap around Addy’s arm. “You’re welcome.  Listen, I’m really sorry about what happened.  My dad can be…I don’t know what’s wrong with him sometimes.  Do you need help moving anything in?”
I ignore the jab in the pit of my stomach at the mention of Chris’s dad.  “No, we’re good.  We don’t have much, so it wasn’t difficult.”
He unbuckles Addy and lifts her out of the stroller. “Is it okay if I carry her in?”
I cringe at the dirt on his shirt, but he’s already got her pressed against his chest.    “Sure.”  I can always give her a bath.
She turns her head toward his neck and snuggles into a ball.  Somehow she feels what I do with him.
         Safe.
         Secure.
         Home.

I'm really excited to read this title! It sounds like one I'd LOVE! Can't wait!

Author: Lori L. Clark

Add to: Goodreads
Order Online: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, The Book Depository, Amazon UK

NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+

Synopsis: When a tragic accident leaves Rhane Evans — lead vocalist for the rock band Fate’s Crazy — permanently unable to speak above a whisper and kills the love of her life, she moves across the state to pick up the pieces. Shattered, Rhane struggles to understand what happened the night of the accident, an accident everyone blames her for, even though she wasn’t driving the car.

Enter Ian Callahan. He’s the one person who may have a more tumultuous past than Rhane. Though they try hard to deny the sizzling attraction between them, it proves nearly impossible. When Ian’s troubled past threatens to tear them apart, they begin to believe happiness isn’t in their cards.

Because Fate’s Crazy that way…

Excerpt:

"You plan on helping me unload this thing or are you just going to bob up and down like a damn goof?" I try to punch him in the shoulder playfully but his long fingers snake around my wrist before I'm able to connect. He smirks. "Careful there, Sunshine. Don't hurt yourself."
I roll my eyes at the new nickname he's recently begun calling me. Sunshine. Rhane. Get it?
"I'm teasing. This thing probably weighs twice as much as you," as he hoists himself effortlessly up into the bed and unhooks the tailgate straps allowing it to swing freely. He pulls out two boards and sets them at an angle from the truck to the ground, creating a crude ramp of sorts.
I watch him pull on a pair of worn leather gloves and he goes to work feeding a rope through the eyelets of two large hooks threaded into the back of the doghouse. I breathe into my hands, trying to warm the fingertips left bare by my own pitiful gloves.
His eyes flicker to my hands. "When you going to get yourself some real damn gloves anyway?"
I give him a middle finger salute and childishly stick out my tongue. "Shut up," I huff.
He turns his back to me, and his shoulders shake in silent laughter. "Feisty," he mutters. My eyes slowly slide down from his broad upper back before locking on the way his tight jeans accentuate the firmness of his fine ass. I start to warm up and nerve endings all over my lower half ignite. My cheeks blossom into what I'm sure must be a brilliant scarlet.
He glances at me, doing a double take, "You cold?"
I crinkle my nose and shake my head. Hopeful he can't read just how un-cold I really am. "No why?"
"Your cheeks are red," he pulls the rope taut and threads it through the pickup bed. "You must be cold. Either that, or you're blushing." That left cheek dimple reappears, and I wonder if he's flirting with me.
I think he's figured out that he flusters the hell out of me. He's sort of cocky that way. Unfortunately for me, I've always had a thing for cocky, self-assured, slightly egotistical men. Who wants boring, when you can have a bad ass? Especially the ones everyone says to stay away from.
