NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+

Synopsis: She kept everyone from harm, except herself…

Raielle’s life was shrouded in secrets. Her power was a secret and so was her past. When she came to Fort Upton, everything changed. She discovered her family, and she found the boy who would own her heart forever. But it couldn’t last. Knowing so little about her power nearly destroyed her. She had to leave and break both their hearts.

Now she’s back in California, and she doesn’t have to hide who she is anymore. But there is no relief in that because she’s drowning in regret. She knew it would take a miracle or a sin to save her, and there was no miracle. Her survival came at too high a price. She found her father, but she can’t go back to Lucas until she finds redemption.

She saved him. Then she left him…

She came out of nowhere and changed him forever, then she disappeared and left him reeling. Her whole life, she never had anyone who really loved her. Until him. Did she think he wouldn’t come for her? Did she believe she wasn’t worth it?

Lucas leaves everything behind to follow Raielle. When he finds her, she’s a pale shadow of the girl he remembers. Her power is betraying her and so are the people around her, but one thing hasn’t changed. She selflessly wants to save the world, and he just wants to save her.

With more secrets to uncover and dark truths to face, Raielle and Lucas must make sacrifices to be together again. But in the end, will those sacrifices bring them closer together or tear them apart? When he’s forced to make the ultimate sacrifice, will she turn her back on everything she believes in to save him again?

~ This book is intended for mature readers due to sexual situations and strong language. ~

Review: 4 Stars - To Have and to Harm is the second title in author Debra Doxer’s Remedy series. Filled with a unique story and cast of characters, Doxer has created an extremely enjoyable and highly memorable world that readers will eat up and beg for more.

When I read Keep You From Harm, the first book in this series I was pleasantly surprised with the story and the characters. I wasn’t expecting things to take a on a paranormal aspect that Doxer weaves extremely well into her otherwise contemporary world.

At the end of the first book I was left more than stunned at the turn of events and the choices that were made. Raielle, the main character has done something which has left her with some pretty devastating consequences. Not to worry, no spoilers here! So, with the shocking turn of events she feels she has no choice and takes a leap of faith which in turn hurts someone she loves pretty badly in the process in the hopes she’ll come out of the situation she’s found herself in whole again.

So, Raielle ends up with a long lost family member who she hopes will fix the problem she’s facing and she spirals pretty badly into a dark place. Not to say I blame her for the things she’s dealing with and it’s here at this point that readers get a chance to see just how well this book is written. Doxer takes her characters from one extreme to another in this well written tale of consequences, greed, love and so much more.

One of the main things that I was extremely happy about was the way I assumed the story was going to go and was kind of dreading it really….well, it didn’t. I was more than happy that there were resolutions that were sprinkled throughout the story, some I needed sooner than others and Doxer didn’t disappoint!

And then there’s Lucas and his strength and his huge heart that you can’t help but feel warmed by while reading. He’s there for Ray 100%. He might not like her choices and expresses his views freely but he’s not about to let her go through anything on her own. While Ray fights her inner demons and the fact that Lucas has given up so much she fights to make sure that things aren’t always about her. She’s willing to give up everything including herself to save the person she loves most in the world. In some ways I found her to be a bit frustrating with how willing she is to give up everything for other people but with her ability you almost can’t blame her. It’s how she was made.

There’s angst, romance and steam in this one. There was also an almost love triangle that thankfully never happened because if I’m honest I was dreading the hints that appeared and it was a worry for me. Triangles usually don’t bother me but if you’ve read these two characters – Ray and Lucas – you know that adding in a new element to their story would have been… well not so good.

It’s really well written and I loved this one as much as the first. I was thrilled to be immersed back into Doxers Remedy world and happy to have a chance to spend some time with her characters again.

I’m excited to see what Doxer writes next and eager to see what characters she’ll share with her readers in the future. I highly recommend this title to all “New Adult” fans and anyone who likes a great paranormal twist, than this is without a doubt a must read. Enjoy!
