Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old Noa has been a victim of the system ever since her parents died. Now living off the grid and trusting no one, she uses her computer-hacking skills to stay safely anonymous and alone. But when she wakes up on a table in an empty warehouse with an IV in her arm and no memory of how she got there, Noa starts to wish she had someone on her side.

Enter Peter Gregory. A rich kid and the leader of a hacker alliance, Peter needs people with Noa’s talents on his team. Especially after a shady corporation threatens his life. But what Noa and Peter don’t realize is that Noa holds the key to a terrible secret, and there are those who’d stop at nothing to silence her for good.

Filled with action, suspense, and romance, this first book in a new trilogy offers readers nonstop thrills.

Review: 4 Stars - Don’t Turn Around, the first book in the PERSSEFoNE Trilogy by author Michelle Gagnon was thrilling with twists and turns at every turn of the page. When your safety is threatened no matter where you run or who you turn to, what else is left to do…but keep running?

Noa had a great life until one day, at a young age it was all taken away. She’s not sixteen years old and is the product of numerous foster homes and children’s detention centers. Using skills she’s learned through the short years of her life she has found a way to remain hidden in plain sight and on her own.

Peter is a child of privilege, yet he lives in the shadow of his older brother who passed away due to PEMA, a disease that affects kids and teens within Gagnon’s story. He’s smart and kind and loves computers. He loves them so much that he started his own hacker group to help the world and those around him.

What these two don’t know is just how crazy their lives are going to become and how their lives will cross and what they’ll need to do in order to make it through another day.

While Noa believes she’s found a way to make a better life for herself, she’s about to be shown just how wrong she could ever be. Waking up in an empty warehouse, not knowing how she got there or why there’s an IV in her arm is one thing, getting away and figuring out the why’s, how and who’s will be another.

Gagnon’s story had my heart racing and dizzy from one page to the next. I was shocked one minute and mad the next. The only way to feel like you’re keeping up with the characters is to read the book fast, but be warned it’s a thrill ride from beginning to end. There was seriously no stopping or slowing down for the characters and new issues were weaved into the fabric of the story making you wonder when they were and IF they were ever going to get a much needed break.

It’s a very well written rollercoaster ride that sets up perfectly for the next two books in the trilogy. This being Gagnon’s first title in the YA genre just proves to me that she’s found sure footing within. I recommend Don’t Turn Around to anyone who’s looking for a thrill ride and a half, just be for warned, you’ll be ready for more… just like I am. Enjoy.

  2. This sounds really good. I first heard about it yesterday in an email from HarperCollins (because I finally decided to check my email). I will add it to my TBR I love action and thrills so I should love this one.
