Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By BooksMuch Loved Books!

Today is a special edition of Book Wars, tomorrow Book Wars will turn 1 year old. We can't believe that a year has gone by so fast, and we want to take the moment to thank ALL of you for voting, for commenting, and being supporters of this feature, and our blogs. To celebrate Book Wars turning 1 we have a giveaway at the bottom of this post.

It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet. Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the UK.  So, Michelle from Much Loved Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions.

We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!

Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce. The Book Wars winner for The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa is... the UK Cover!!!!!! Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.

Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

Synopsis: If love can survive death, are soul-mates eternal?

Eighteen-year-old Tavia is the only survivor of a plane crash that killed her parents. Grieving and lonely, she starts having strange visions; of a boy she's never met but feels compulsively drawn to. A boy who tells her to do things she never dreamed of.

Tavia begins to suspect that secrets are being kept from her, and that her kindly aunt and uncle know more than they are letting on. Was the plane crash really an accident? Or is Tavia part of something bigger than she ever imagined?

With only her instincts and long-time crush, Benson, to rely on, Tavia must decide where her destiny lies, and who with.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Aprilynne Pike has created a heart-stopping romance built on a love triangle like you've never seen before and filled with epic stakes and a centuries-long conspiracy. Give it to fans of Nightshade and Fallen.

About the Author:

Aprilynne Pike has been spinning faerie stories since she was a child with a hyper-active imagination. At the age of twenty she received her BA in Creative Writing from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. When not writing, Aprilynne can usually be found at the gym; she also enjoys singing, acting, reading, and working with pregnant moms as a childbirth educator and doula. Aprilynne Pike's #1 New York Times best-selling debut, WINGS, is the first of four books about a seemingly ordinary girl with a not-so-ordinary destiny. In this tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever...

Let the Wars Begin: Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.

Lisa I think we're choosing some hard covers recently and we don't seem to learn our lesson lol. How on earth (no pun intended) am I supposed to choose a favorite for these two? I mean they're both interesting and beautiful in their own unique ways. They are so different from one another that if I saw them sitting on shelves at a store I'd want to pick them both up for a better look. I think for this weeks pick it's going to the one that the more I look at it, the more I see so the US cover wins my vote this week. While I love the shattering flower and the effect that has, I can't get past how the US cover draws me in and makes it hard to look away with finding something new and exiting to it. So now that we've made our hard choice this week, it's up to YOU to help the battle in this cover war and choose below!
Michelle I really don't know why I do this to myself, we pick two amazing covers, and then we have to make the tough decision to pick our favourite. The US edition was the one that I first saw and I love it. The bubbles, the kaleidoscope effect, everything about it draws my attention. The UK cover however reminds me of her Wings series (which I loved) I love the flower on the cover and how parts of it have an exploding type effect, the small pieces of leaves and petals scattering away. After some debate, I have to go with the US version for this week. While I love both of these covers, the US one has the triangle in the middle, which is symbolic to the story itself, it also has a more mysterious feel to it. Want so see what I thought of this book, check out my review here: Review: Earthbound by Aprilynne Pike.

  1. Nice! I think I like the UK cover better than this US one. Although the look of the new US paperback--and I think they made it for hardcover too is nice though. That one would be tougher to decide!
