Synopsis: There's only one person I want to see when I return home. But I know he won't be waiting. It's the reason I feel safe enough to come back.
I’m so wrong.
Ash Townsend isn't the same quiet boy from next door. He's tall, dark, and demanding answers. He wants me, but he doesn't trust me. Who can blame him? When his own family tried to break him down, he still sheltered me in this town full of liars. And I repaid it by leaving him without a word.
Because I'll do anything to protect Ash. I have the scars on my wrist to prove it.
Review: 3 Stars - See Through Me, the first title in the Lose My Senses series by debut author Sera Bright. With some characters you’ll hate with a passion and others you’ll root for from the start, Bright weaves a story full of lies, pain and a second chance two hoped for but others want to tear apart.
For these two characters – Katie and Ash – their lives began rough. Living next door it was easy for these two to fall into a fast friendship early on. With crushes and threats they were there for each other without question. Until one day something changed. Their relationship grew and with threats around them they were forced to keep their new relationship a secret.
Katie is selfless. She’s does an extremely selfless act which tears her world and Ash’ apart. With no other choice she takes matters into her own hands and leaves without as much of a goodbye. One thing I loved about her was the fact that she’s so selfless yet I hated that she wouldn’t open up and tell Ash about that night she left and what really happened. I get that she’s scared but you’re both adults now so tell Ash what happened and work together to fight for what you want! This was frustrating beyond words.
And Ash, gotta love this character and the fight that he has in him. His life has been horrible, the worst from the beginning and he’d do just about anything for Katie. When she leaves it breaks him in a way he’s never been broken before and yet he never gives up. He’s the heart of the story and gives even Katie a backbone that allowed her to make certain choices which inevitably brought these two characters to the conclusion at the end of this book.
These two need more honestly and maybe things would work out yet.. again at the end of this one some bigger things happen that I know I didn’t see coming! Also… the original ending changed and I had a chance to read them both. I’m not sure exactly why the original ending changed, I didn’t see anything wrong with it, other than maybe mentioning a larger part of the story arch again… but the final ending did in fact cover that and then some.
While I did like this one and am looking forward to the next book to see where this is going for these two characters, I felt some of the story was a bit rushed without any explanation. I sometimes wondered if I had missed something and wanted a bit more of the story told to get a better understanding why characters did the things they did, made and changed choices along the way.
In the end it was good, wished it had been great. It was entertaining and loved how much these two care for each other even when they want to fight it. It’s a great contemp for fans of second chance stories that have a meaty plot and fans of “New Adult” stories. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. I’m happy to hear it’ll be in Ash’s point of view because he was what had me hooked for this one and I’m sure the next will be even that much more since we’ll have a chance to see the story from his side of things. Download, read and enjoy!

About the Author:
When I’m not plotting elaborate schemes in my head, I’m having a fabulous time with my own real life story. That’s what happens when you have three awesome kids, two fluffy (useless) cats, and one very patient husband.
I can cook like a fiend but prefer to eat doughnuts with sprinkles for breakfast. Sprinkles make everything taste better. An avid reader of all genres, I shamelessly admit romance will always be my favorite. And while I enjoy the safe and familiar, I’m always up for an adventure.
My debut New Adult Contemporary Romance novel SEE THROUGH ME will be released in May. You can contact me at https://www.facebook.com/authorserabright , https://twitter.com/SeraBright , or through my website www.serabright.com

Great review, Lisa! It sounds like a very character driven story which is what I look for the most in contemporaries. I also like how complex Ash's character sounds!
