Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By Books & Much Loved Books!
It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet. Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US. So, Michelle from Much Loved Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions.
We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!
The Book Wars winner for Here Where the Sunbeams are Green/Upside Down in the Jungle By: Helen Phillips is....the UK Cover! Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.
Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

Synopsis: The Apocalypse does not end. The Changed will grow in numbers. The Spared may not survive.
Even before the EMPs brought down the world, Alex was on the run from the demons of her past and the monster living in her head. After the world was gone, she believed Rule could be a sanctuary for her and those she’d come to love.
But she was wrong.
Now Alex is in the fight of her life against the adults, who would use her, the survivors, who don’t trust her, and the Changed, who would eat her alive.
Welcome to Shadows, the second book in the haunting apocalyptic Ashes Trilogy: where no one is safe and humans may be the worst of the monsters.
About the author:
Among other things, I was an English major in college and so I know that I'm supposed to write things like, "Ilsa J. Bick is ." Except I hate writing about myself in the third person like I'm not in the room. Helloooo, I'm right here . . . So let's just say that I'm a child psychiatrist (yeah, you read that right)as well as a film scholar, surgeon wannabe (meaning I did an internship in surgery and LOVED it and maybe shoulda stuck), former Air Force major—and an award-winning, best-selling author of short stories, e-books, and novels. Believe me, no one is more shocked about this than I . . . unless you talk to my mother.

Let the Wars Begin: Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.
Lisa So, for this week I've picked the second title in the Ashes Trilogy - Shadows! I LOVE this trilogy and I LOVED the changes they made for the covers when this was released. The UK cover is still creepy, which it does fit the story, but my favorite is still the US cover.
The changes that were made with the US covers are pretty spot on. If you take a closer look at the US covers you see that it's pretty creepy and beautiful too. Love it! So, now it's YOUR turn! Which cover do YOU like best? Vote below.

Michelle This is another tough one for me this week. I love how pretty the USA cover is, even though it is meant to be a creepy book, but I also love how haunting the UK cover is.
My vote this week goes to UK, I love how haunting it is, but also the added extra creep factor of the people in the bottom part of the cover in the dark forest.
Don't forget to cast your vote in the poll below.

In a very stunning turn of events, I like the US version more. I usually always like the UK version more. Maybe I am biased! ;D
ReplyDeleteGReat post. I always like looking at the cover differences! :)
