Synopsis: Whore. Slut. Typhoid Mary.
I've been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?
He's everything I shouldn't want. A former Marine involved in illegal fighting with a quick trigger temper and an easy smile for all the women. His fists aren't the danger to me, though, it's his charm. He's sliding his way into my heart and I'm afraid that he's going to be the one to break me.
Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot tempered.
I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I'll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I've got fighting and I've got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.
She's everything I didn't realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she's been hurt too much in the past and I don't want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can't.
Review: 4 Stars - Unspoken, Woodlands novel number two and companion to the first book in the series, Undeclared by author Jen Fredrick was an eagerly anticipated title for this reader! I couldn't wait to get to know our main two characters Bo and AM and watch their stories unfold and come alive throughout the pages.
We've met quite a few characters in Undeclared and I just knew I’d love Bo as I love Noah and I’m happy, no thrilled to say that I wasn't wrong. He’s troubled from his past and it’s deep rooted in his present. He’s sweet and has so much to offer. And AM, she’s dealing with some pretty hardcore rumors and her life has pretty much been compressed into a small group of close knit friends who stand by her through it all and very little interaction with her campus and the town she lives in other than her classes and her apartment. She’d just rather stay away from the cruelty and judging looks that couldn't be further from the truth.
Bo, as described in the synopsis is Impulsive. He is and then some. He needs his outlet of fighting and random hookups to keep him level and calm. Which you would think is a crutch because I thought the same thing but there are deeper rooted issues that are driving him to be this way. Once you read the story I’m sure you’ll begin to see more to our big sweetheart of a guy than meets the eye. I know I did.
Both characters are somewhat closed off. AM more so than Bo, yet what both do and believe and what is actually best are often confusing for each of them. With AM she’s trying to protect herself and Bo, while he’s trying to protect himself he’s more so trying to protect those around him.
The way Bo and the other Woodland guys handle rumors was perfect. I loved this about each and every one of them! I wanted to hug them all and take them cupcakes and swoon!
I also loved the experiment that Bo and AM do to the guys at Bo’s house and thought it was a crack up. That’s another thing about this title that even with some of the heavy issues there were some light hearted moments and even moments like the experiment that had me laughing out loud and rolling my eyes. Seriously entertaining and then some!
There are a lot of emotions running through this book… from swoon worthy, to painful to maddening to sexy and many other emotions all in between. These Woodlands boys are each a Hero in their own right. We first had a chance to see that with Noah and now with Bo. I am eagerly anticipating the next companion novel to this series because I need to meet these other boys and see them the highlight of their own stories. I need to know what makes them tick and I want to see what lucky girl will get a chance to be swept away by each of them.
With all that being said, I have fallen in love even deeper with Fredrick’s Woodlands series and I will forever be stalking her… er begging her for the next installment. Her characters and stories are highly entertaining with heart, humor and some important issues that are dealt with by each character. I highly recommend this series and suggest starting with the first title – Undeclared which will give you a better overall picture for these characters and their stories and how they all are interwoven in each other’s lives. Enjoy!
