Synopsis: Russ Devereaux used to have it all—loving father, beautiful best friend, a carefree life in a town he loved, and strong magic. He was the king of his happy universe. Five months ago, that life was taken from him. Do not pass Go. Do not collect two hundred dollars.

He’s spent months fighting back and building himself a new life, in a new city, with new friends he now considers family. But suddenly, his new life might be in jeopardy of getting shot straight to hell just like the last one. Literally, this time.

He’s discovered power inside of him—an ancient, dark power that he shouldn’t have, can’t explain, can’t control, and definitely needs to keep secret. He needs answers, but before he can get them, he
finds himself arrested and on his way to face the supernatural council. The same council that stole everything from him the first time.
As Russ struggles to keep his new power under wraps, his old life and he new one are about to collide and it’s bound to be explosive. He may not have all the answers he needs, but one thing is certain: he’ll be damned if anyone is taking his new life from him. That is, if he’s not just plain damned.

Excerpt:

As we took the elevator up to the fifty-sixth floor my nerves reached an all-time high because of what I knew would be waiting for me when I reached the top. Or rather, who would be waiting. I glance at Duncan, trying not to let my panic show. “Are you taking us directly to the council?”
“Yes.” Duncan eyed me suspiciously. “Is that a problem? It sounded like you guys wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible.”
          “We do,” Ethan assured him.
I did, but that didn’t mean I was looking forward to it. I swallowed back the chunks that were starting to rise in my stomach and asked something I had to know. “Will she be there?”
I avoided Ethan’s gaze and held my breath as I waited for Duncan’s answer.
“She’s a member of the council now Russ, as is the Seer. They will both be there.”
Of course they’d both be there. Because the universe hates me. “Does she know I’m here?”
Duncan took a minute to answer me. “I thought it best not to warn her. She would have just agonized over it unnecessarily.”
“Agonize over it?” That pissed me off. “She has no right to—”
“You don’t understand. She’s been a wreck, Russ. I never even told her I saw you.”
“She’s had no idea where I was this whole time?” For a second I felt bad. But then I remembered the way she clung to him when she said goodbye to me and I got angry again.
Duncan sighed. “You asked me to keep her out of your life. If she knew where you were, she would have come looking for you. This is going to be very difficult for her. More so than for you I think. You seem to have moved on better than she has.”
“I’ve moved on better?” I couldn’t listen to any more, and since I couldn’t really punch anything I kicked the side of the elevator. “She moved on before I left.”
“Would you like to see her before you’re brought in front of the whole council? I can take you to a holding cell and tell her you’re here. The council would understand the delay.”
“No.” That sounded like hell on Earth. “I don’t want to talk to her. I was sort of banking on never seeing her again. Lets just get it over with.”
“It might make things go a little smoother if you got it out of the way before you’re questioned.”
I laughed hard. “You think the council cares about questioning us? They’re going to do whatever they want no matter what Ethan and I say. To tell you the truth, Duncan, I don’t really believe they’re going to let us go. That’s why I came. If they’re going to try to kill Ethan, then they’re going to have get through us both.”
Duncan laughed as the elevator doors chimed open. “Nobody is going to kill anybody. You’re always so dramatic, Russ.”
As Duncan ushered us down the hall, I stopped hearing what he was saying. The consulate was fairly busy. There were people everywhere, but it wasn’t their stares that made my heart pound as I looked at them. I kept waiting for one of them to be a familiar face.
Duncan gave me a sympathetic smile and shook his head. “The council isn’t what you think. They aren’t cruel monsters. Dani was an unfortunate case, so your perception of them is skewed. I promise you they can be reasonable, caring people. They want order and justice, and they will be fair. They’ll listen to your story. I honestly don’t think you’re in any danger.”
          “We’ll see,” I grumbled.
I stumbled to as stop as we came to a set of large double doors. “Where’s Grace when you need her?” I gasped. Ethan glanced at me and I nodded at the doors. “Dani’s in there. I can already feel her energy.”
“You want to hold my hand?” Ethan asked, holding out his cuffed wrists to me and batting his eyelashes. “I may not dissolve bonds, but I’m every bit as pretty as Grace.”
I appreciated his attempt to give me crap. I needed the distraction. I was supremely messed up right now and he knew it. Joking might be the only way to get me through this. “Bite me.”
We laughed, but the smiles left our faces the second the doors opened. Game time.

NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+

Synopsis: It’s been almost a year since eighteen-year-old Ella Rodriguez was in a car accident that left her crippled, scarred, and without a mother. After a very difficult recovery, she’s been uprooted across the country and forced into the custody of a father that abandoned her when she was a young child. If Ella wants to escape her father’s home and her awful new stepfamily, she must convince her doctors that she’s capable, both physically and emotionally, of living on her own. The problem is, she’s not ready yet. The only way she can think of to start healing is by reconnecting with the one person left in the world who’s ever meant anything to her—her anonymous Internet best friend, Cinder.

…Hollywood sensation Brian Oliver has a reputation for being trouble. There’s major buzz around his performance in his upcoming film The Druid Prince, but his management team says he won’t make the transition from teen heartthrob to serious A-list actor unless he can prove he’s left his wild days behind and become a mature adult. In order to douse the flames on Brian’s bad-boy reputation, his management stages a fake engagement for him to his co-star Kaylee. Brian isn’t thrilled with the arrangement—or his fake fiancĂ©e—but decides he’ll suffer through it if it means he’ll get an Oscar nomination. Then a surprise email from an old Internet friend changes everything.
LISA: Hey everyone!!! I'm SUPER EXCITED to introduce two amazing characters from author Kelly Orams latest release - Cinder & Ella! I had the pleasure of meeting these two a few months ago and then recently while asking them what they think of their book being out released into the world. I know I'm excited for everyone to read their story... so let's get started and see what these two have to say.....

EllaTheRealHero: Hey everyone! I’m Ella, average teenager and book blogger extraordinaire.
Cinder458: And I’m Brian, star of The Druid Prince, and all of all Ella’s fantasies.
EllaTheRealHero: Right. He wishes.
Cinder458: I don’t wish, I know. Anyway, I play Prince Cinder in the upcoming movie The Druid Prince. It’s a film adaptation of the first book in the best fantasy book series of all time, The Cinder Chronicles by LP Morgan.
EllaTheRealHero: Definitely the best book series ever.
Cinder458: And now it’s going to be the greatest movie of all time.
EllaTheRealHero: Let me guess: because you’re the star?
Cinder458: Well I am perfect for the role. Plus, I’m the book’s biggest fan. Who else could have played Cinder as well as me?
EllaTheRealHero: Fine, you’re perfect for the part, but I have to argue that you’re the book’s biggest fan. I believe, that title belongs to me.
Cinder458: Actually, it doesn’t. I love everything about the book. You hate the ending and would totally rewrite it if you could. That makes me the bigger fan.
EllaTheRealHero: That’s not true. I love the ending. I just think Cinder picked the wrong girl.
Cinder458: No he didn’t. You were just on the wrong “team” as you bloggers like to say. Hey, have you ever noticed that that happens to you a lot?
EllaTheRealHero: It does not.
Cinder458: Oh, please. Jacob? Puck? Gale? You even wanted Valerie to end up with Isaac in V is for Virgin. Nobody wanted Virgin Val to end up with the boring church boy over the rock star.
EllaTheRealHero: Well, Kyle was a jerk! Val deserved better. Plus, the guy who played Isaac in the movie was hotter than the actor who played Kyle.
Cinder458: And you say I’m shallow. Hey, wait a minute. I played Kyle in the V is for Virgin movie!
EllaTheRealHero: I know.
Cinder458: What??? You seriously thought that guy was hotter than me???
EllaTheRealHero: LOL!!! You are so easy!!!
Cinder458: You’re such a brat!
EllaTheRealHero: That’s why you love me. :)
Cinder458: *sigh* That is true. You’re the only woman in the world who gives me crap. And you’re right. I love you for it. Anyway, enough of that. We’re supposed to be introducing our book and we’re failing miserably.
EllaTheRealHero: Oh yeah. Hey, maybe we should just let Lisa introduce it. She’s an amazing blogger. She’s the one who inspired me to start blogging, you know. I’m sure she’ll do the book way more justice than either of us could.
Cinder458: I don’t know about that. Lisa’s awesome, but you’re a pretty great blogger too.
EllaTheRealHero: You’re biased.
Cinder458: Maybe a little. Hey, you want to go get some dinner and have a Legend of the Seeker marathon?
EllaTheRealHero: Definitely.

…
…

LISA: Uh… guys?

(They’re Gone.)

So, now you've all had just a taste of what you can look forward to AND SO MUCH MORE in the book! BUT... they've left it up to me to introduce the book, thanks guys!

I can't tell you guys how EXCITED I am for this release!! Kelly writes some AMAZING stories and characters. I've LOVED her books since I read the first title in her Jamie Baker series - Being Jamie Baker - and I haven't looked back since! So, when I reached out to Kelly to find out what she was working on... she told me a bit about Cinder & Ella and asked if I'd like a chance to beta read it.

I've read it through a few times now and let me just tell you that you guys are in for a treat! It's pretty amazing! I can't wait for you ALL to read it so I have someone to talk about this book with. I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that I might have something FUN and exciting to tell you about that has to do with this book sometime in the future.

Until then, take a peek at this teaser and be sure you check out Kelly's other books too! Links are above.

Teaser excerpt:

“You do have someone who cares,” he said softly. “No matter how bad things are at home or at school or whatever, you have me. You’re my best friend, too. You have my number now. Save it in your phone and call it anytime—day, night, the witching hour—it doesn’t matter. Okay?”
It took me a moment—and a series of deep breaths—before I could respond. “Okay.”
“Promise?”
“I promise. As long as I always have you, I’ll be fine.” I kicked myself internally and laughed. “Wow, that sounded really cheesy. You see? That’s why I didn’t want to call you. I can filter my stupid mouth so much better when I have to type out my thoughts.”
Cinder laughed again. “Ah, but then you would miss out on all the sweet nothings I plan to whisper in your ear now that I know how much you like my ultra-sexy voice.”
I blushed but refused to let him know that his flirting rattled me. “I never said ultra, you egomaniac. But you should definitely consider recording audiobooks for a living.”
“Hmm. That’s not a bad idea.” Cinder’s voice dropped to that slow, seductive purr again as he asked, “Would you like me to read to you, Ellamara?”
I thrilled at the thought and couldn’t quite mask my excitement. “Seriously?”
“Why not? Before you called, I was getting ready to have a Top Gear marathon all by my lonesome.”
“You are such a liar. Tonight is Friday night, and it’s Halloween. There is no way you don’t have plans.”
“I don’t have important ones. It’s just a stupid party that my sort-of girlfriend wants me to go to.”
“Your ‘sort-of’ girlfriend?”
“Yeah.” Cinder stretched the word out in a long breath. “It’s a long story, but I’m not that into her. I’d much rather stay home and read with you. Besides, I can’t hang up on you when you’ve had the worst day ever. What kind of best friend would that make me?”
I almost cried again. The offer was so sweet. And thoughtful. Reading was a passion Cinder and I shared. We read and discussed books all the time. We’d even decided to read the same book at the same time before, but we’d never read one together. Cinder had to know how much that would mean to me.
“It has to be The Druid Prince,” I said.
Cinder laughed. “It’s already in my hands.”

Synopsis: Even though her father is running for President of the United States, Grace St. Claire is as normal a girl as they come. She’s clumsy, shy, and an outcast among her peers. She even manages to nearly die in a freak accident in front of the entire school. But when Grace survives a vampire attack she quickly learns that she is anything but ordinary.

There’s something about human Grace that has all the supernaturals around her going crazy. Her best friend’s brother suddenly wants to date her. Her worst enemy has sworn to protect her even against her wishes. Someone with very powerful magic wants her dead, and the vampire that attacked her has developed an obsession with making her his eternal mate.

In order to survive—and not as Count Dracula’s undead bride—Grace dives head first into the terrifying world of the supernatural. She teams up with a charming but mysterious warlock who strolled into town causing trouble and spouting stories of a Prophesy and Chosen One that looks exactly like Grace. Together they must figure out why Grace is different, who wants her dead, how she’s connected to the Chosen One, and who they can really trust.

Review: 4 Stars - Ungifted is the second title in author Kelly Oram’s Supernatural series. In this novel some of the characters from the first book are intertwined with brand new characters in this exciting and mysterious world that Oram has created.

One thing that I liked with this one was that while it felt like a brand new story it actually runs somewhat parallel to the first book, Chameleon. There are brand new characters and some old friends who are again key elements to the ongoing story.

In this installment we meet Grace St. Claire. She’s pretty average, extremely shy and very accident prone. If not for her father running for President of the United States she’d be pretty invisible. Or maybe not? As for her dad… for someone who’s running for President he sure was a jerk. Trust me; jerks not a strong enough word but the guy needed to be taken down a few notches. The two have a horrible relationship and it’s all due to her father’s lack of interest in anything that has to do with her or her wellbeing. The only thing he shows any interest in is if she’s behaving correctly and up to his standards so there’s nothing that can or will damage his career.

Grace wants to stay out of the spotlight. She wants to graduate high school and move on with her life. The last thing she wants is more attention drawn to her when she’s already living in a fishbowl. What she wants is the furthest thing she gets as events start to happen around her and to her that she’s never in her wildest dreams thought could be true.

Grace might be shy and clumsy but she’s a pretty great character. She handles things so much better than I thought she would and I think that shows just how strong she is and will continue to be.

Now the guys of the story… oh yes, the guys. We have Ethan who too being an ass to a whole new level. For whatever his reasons he treated Grace pretty poor yet he is always there to save her from another accident. I couldn’t figure this guy out! Yet when things start to take a turn for the worst he’s a great person to have on your side. Now if he’d just get over his issues of being prejudice against humans….

There’s her best friend and all over her brothers too. Those guys were creepy and then they became endearing and then I wanted to scream! Then there was a moment I was just about in tears! I bet you’re wondering what all this is about… well, since I always try my hardest to write a review without spoilers… you’ll just have to read the book. Which you should anyway because they are GOOD!

As always with Oram’s books… they are extremely well written, the story is always entertaining and unique and the characters draw out enough emotions that they’ll leave their mark on you, which really is some of the most important parts in making a book a great one.

In the end I love Oram’s work. I have read many of her previous titles and I can’t wait to continue to read more from her in the future. She has without a doubt become an author that I look forward to her next book and once I finished this title I was looking for what was next. I’m sure others will feel the same so I do highly recommend this title and all of Oram’s other works. Fans of YA will without a doubt love her titles just as I have. So, go pick up a Kelly Oram book today! Happy Reading.

Check out my review of: Being Jamie Baker (Jamie Baker, #1)
Synopsis: Jamie Baker, the only girl in the world with superpowers, has now accepted who she is and learned to control her power. Not to mention she has the best boyfriend on the planet. Life is finally looking good. But the day she witnesses an accident and decides not to save the guy out of fear of being exposed, she realizes that simply being Jamie Baker isn't enough.

After seeing Jamie so wrecked with guilt, the ever-helpful Ryan Miller decides it's time to make all of his fantasies about turning his girlfriend into an honest-to-goodness superhero become a reality.

Of course, coming up with a decent Super Name and fending off all of Ryan's attempts to get her into spandex aren't the only problems Jamie faces. The more her alter ego starts to make headlines, the harder it becomes for Jamie to hide her extracurricular activities from her best friend, the government, radical scientists, and the mysterious new guy who is determined to steal her from her boyfriend.

Review: 4 Stars - More Than Jamie Baker By Kelly Oram is the second in the Jamie Baker series and let me tell you, it sure did live up to the “More” in its title. These books are always such a fun read yet as the characters grow and get older their issues change and in this installment there were a lot of changes going around.

Jamie and Ryan are finally out of High School and away in college. Readers of “New Adult” looking for a story that is free of sex, that tends to come with the category, should pick these up! It’s not often that you find a title in this category that doesn’t have sex through it, yet with Orams writing and how character driven her books are, there’s nothing at all missing because really, she has everything else and then some! Plus, during this age and time in their adult lives there’s more going on and I know I enjoyed a book that wasn’t focused on just the over the top intimate part of a couple’s relationship. While sex in “New Adult” titles far from bothers me, this was just a new change. I believe that this is a fantastic showing of just how well a “New Adult” title can be written, without the sex.

I loved Jamie’s story in the first book – Being Jamie Baker. I loved watching her navigate Ryan’s interest and watching her try to deal with her ever growing powers. Her parents are present in both books and want nothing but what’s best for her and that’s keeping these powers under wraps. Ryan’s the same and man, that guy will do anything to 1) keep Jamie safe and 2) get her into a wonder woman costume. The second is beyond comical, trust me there.

There are some characters from the first book that make appearances through this one which some were welcomed and some you just wanted to smack. There are some new key players that’ll have you grinding your teeth, just as I was. There are also new struggles for Jamie and Ryan and trouble around every corner.

To me Oram writes extremely absorbing characters. Her writing always flows with ease and I’m always left wanting more. I am such a fan of everything I’ve read of hers so far and I look forward to what’s next.

Speaking of what’s next…. Kelly… that ending!?! I wanted to scream! I wanted to throw my Kindle! How on earth could you leave us hanging like that?! That’s one of the worst cliffhanger endings I have EVER read! I was hoping and praying for one outcome and you gave us… well, not that at all. I still am affected by it weeks after reading! Talk about rough… *sigh*

Oram is without a doubt an auto buy/read author. I highly recommend her titles and suggest keeping an eye out for more from her in the future. I think she has some amazing things in the works… or at least I’m assuming she does because that’s how she’s been in the past. I can’t wait for more and you shouldn’t wait any longer either! Go grab one of her titles today and enjoy!

Synopsis: For small-town rebel Dani Webber magic and monsters are no more real than the Easter Bunny… until the day she accidentally stops time. Dani quickly discovers that not only do supernaturals exist, but she herself is one of them. This is great news for her life-long best friend Russ, who can finally come clean about his own supernatural status and his undying love for her. Before the two can start to enjoy the long overdue relationship, Dani is taken by a powerful council of supernaturals who believe she is the Chosen One destined to save them from extinction.

As if being kidnapped and expected to save the world isn't bad enough, an ancient prophecy warns of the Chosen One’s dark nature: “Only the truest love will keep her an agent for good.” The council believes they know who this “true love” is and, unfortunately, that person isn't Russ. The mysterious, powerful and devastatingly handsome Seer is the last person Dani wants in her life, but when she starts having visions of a horrific future, she has no one else to turn to for help.

Soon Dani finds herself torn between two very different boys with two very different opinions of whom she can trust. With the visions getting worse and time running out, Dani is forced to put aside her feelings and work with both the Seer and Russ before an ancient evil is unleashed upon the earth.

Excerpt:

“Yes child,” the Supreme High Councilor said. His temper had calmed and he smiled again, but the smile was unsettling. “You do not understand your own power and you haven’t learned to control it. You know nothing of this world or your destiny yet.”
           “I don’t believe in destiny!”
I couldn't help glancing at Gabriel then, and he figured out my secret. “You didn't see me,” he said. “You saw us.”
           The room fell into silence.
The Supreme High Councilor squatted down to my level. “Is that true?” His anger was gone and for some reason he looked very excited by the Seer’s suggestion. He waited but the only answer he got from me was an offer for him to kiss my ass.
He stood again with a sigh. “My, but she’s a spirited little thing. I suppose that’s necessary if she’s to fulfill the prophecy.”
“I can never see my own fate,” Gabriel said to the Supreme High Councilor. “If my fate is tied to hers it would explain why I could not see her future.”
“Yes,” the Supreme High Councilor said. “Of course. Of course. Power attracts power and you are both pure. A perfect match.”
Gabriel stood in front of me again. The move was not antagonistic. He didn't mean to make me feel inferior the way the Supreme High Councilor did. “Did you see us together?” he asked. “Is there a connection between us? Is that why you are afraid to tell us what you saw?”
He knelt down in front of me and gazed into my eyes with something like hope. It frightened me. “No,” I whispered and then looked at my lap.
I felt a hand come down on mine and I changed form. When I looked up, Alistair was smiling down at me. “Are you sure, my lady?” he asked. “That it was not you and the Seer together that you saw?”
I opened my mouth to deny it again and my voice caught in my throat. The words could not escape me. The more I tried to speak the more I felt my lungs seize up and it was painful.
When I started panicking Alistair asked, “Is there a problem?”
‘Yes!” I screamed and then stopped, surprised that the word flowed from my mouth. “How come I couldn't speak before?”
Alistair smiled again. “At the moment you posses the traits of the Sidhe.”
           “Sidhe?”
           “Creatures of Faery.”
           “You’re a faery?” I gasped.
“Indeed, my lady. And as such, I am physically incapable of telling a falsehood.”
           “Faeries can’t lie?”
“I’m afraid not. So tell us again, did you glimpse a future in which you and the Seer shared one fate?”
Stubbornly I stayed silent, but I knew that was the same as an admission.
The Seer pulled my chin up to look into my eyes. Energy flared through me from his soft fingertips. “Do not be afraid of the visions,” he told me. “They come from the Creator and have only ever brought about good.”
My voice was a lot shakier than I cared for when I asked, “Do they always come true?”
“Yes,” Gabriel admitted. “Unless we interfere. If you know the future, Danielle, you have the power to change it. As a seer, what you must decide is whether or not you should.”
I couldn't bear to look at him any longer when I could still feel the effect of his kiss from my vision. I jerked my face from his grasp.
He rose to his feet again and spoke to the Councilor. “There is one thing I do not understand. How was she able to see this vision when a seer cannot ever glimpse their own fate?”
“As a warlock she casts spells without incantations,” Constance said. “As a werewolf she defeated a male second without any prior training, without even understanding what was happening to her. Perhaps she is even more powerful than you.”
“More powerful than the Seer?” Robert muttered.
He went to stand next to the Supreme High Councilor and whispered, “Think of the possibilities, Councilor. We have much to discuss here.”
The two of them looked me over, considering. Their eagerness made me sick. If my hands weren't bound to my chair I’d have given them both the finger.

Title: The Avery Shaw Experiment
Author: Kelly Oram
Publisher: Bluefields, 278 Pages (May 4th, 2013)
Add to: Goodreads
Order here: Amazon, Barnes and Noble

Synopsis: When Avery Shaw’s heart is shattered by her life-long best friend, she chooses to deal with it the only way she knows how—scientifically.

The state science fair is coming up and Avery decides to use her broken heart as the topic of her experiment. She’s going to find the cure. By forcing herself to experience the seven stages of grief through a series of social tests, she believes she will be able to get over Aiden Kennedy and make herself ready to love again. But she can’t do this experiment alone, and her partner (ex partner!) is the one who broke her heart.

Avery finds the solution to her troubles in the form of Aiden’s older brother Grayson. The gorgeous womanizer is about to be kicked off the school basketball team for failing physics. He’s in need of a good tutor and some serious extra credit. But when Avery recruits the lovable Grayson to be her “objective outside observer,” she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for, because Grayson has a theory of his own: Avery doesn't need to grieve. She needs to live. And if there’s one thing Grayson Kennedy is good at, it’s living life to the fullest.

Aspiring social scientists Avery Shaw and Grayson Kennedy were required to keep detailed journals of all their exploits during The Avery Shaw Experiment. Only the participants of the 2013 Utah State Science Fair were allowed access to these records, but we're in luck because the ever-sneaky, privacy-invading author Kelly Oram has managed to get her hands on those journals and has decided to share them with the world. Today's featured entry has been stolen from the pages of Avery's diary. Enjoy!

“Post Shower Avery And Grayson Things” (Avery)

Dear Diary,

He brought me roses! No one has ever given me roses! When he showed up holding a giant bouquet my face turned the same color as the flowers, but he was still so sweet to bring them. It didn't really help the whole not-a-date thing, but I didn't care. I loved them.

Grayson is completely crazy. Hilarious and sweet beyond compare, but absolutely insane. Tonight he brought me a list that he’d titled Post Shower Avery and Grayson Things. He had this silly notion that he and I needed “things” the way couples have things—like a song, or a place… When I argued that we weren't a couple, he said we were science partners, which was just as important. He said in order for the Avery Shaw Experiment to be successful, we, as partners, needed to have a solid foundation to build our relationship on.

In a way he was right. We are going to be working very closely together for the next while, and the subject of our experiment is very personal. The more we know each other the better we’ll work together. I hadn't really thought about it before, but Grayson and I haven’t spent much time together on our own.

Of course I knew him. Or, I knew the image he puts on for people. But until tonight, I’d never really seen much of the real him. I can’t tell you how surprised I am. I mean I knew he came to my rescue with Aiden, so I knew he was nice, but I had no idea he could be so… so… again I am at a loss for words to describe him. He went above and beyond tonight. This whole evening was crazy, but it was incredible! I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun or laughed so much.

First, Grayson took me to dinner at a place widely known for doing karaoke on Friday nights. I about had a heart attack when he pulled into the parking lot. I was going to refuse to go inside, but Grayson promised me that under no circumstances whatsoever would I have to sing. If I’d had any idea what he was planning, I’d have made him promise that he wouldn't sing either. I’ll never make that mistake again.

We ordered dinner and then Grayson asked to see the song catalog. (This is where he’d shown me the Post Shower Avery and Grayson list.) He told that we needed a song to add to that list, then made me randomly open the catalog and point with my eyes closed. Whatever song my finger landed on would become “our” song.

“Ring My Bell” by Anita Ward.

I laughed. It was funny. But then Grayson made his way to the stage and I stopped laughing. I knew what he was going to do, and I felt like crawling under the table to hide. First, he apologized to the crowd for what was about to happen, but explained that the song he was about to sing was “our” song and he just had to sing it for me.

Oh my gosh! Grayson didn't just sing that song. He performed it like a pro! He danced around the stage belting out the song in his best falsetto. He made a complete fool of himself, but he did it for me. To make me laugh. He did it to level the playing field between us so that I wouldn't be so intimidated by him or feel like such a geek around him. And once I got over the horror of everyone looking at me, it worked. He looked like the biggest dork ever up there. I can’t believe he sacrificed his own dignity just to make me feel less shy around him. It was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.

I laughed until there were tears in my eyes, and “Ring My Bell” is definitely now “our” song. Forever. Kind of like “showering together” and “smiley face stickers” are “our” things. (He’d added both of those things to the list before he’d picked me up tonight.)

The ridiculousness didn't stop there either. Grayson took us all around the city on this strange sort of scavenger hunt to acquire a bunch of “things.” Among other things, chocolate milkshakes, pennies that you smash into souvenirs, and llamas are all now our things too. Yes, I said llamas! I knew we had a llama farm here in Spanish Fork, but I’d never been to it. Neither had Grayson, so he said it was the perfect place to make “our place” since we could experience it for the first time together. Did you know you can rent llamas? When Grayson learned that he freaked out. He insists that once it warms up we are going to go hiking together on llamas!

“I’ve got news for you, Aves. When a guy says he wants to take you out in the name of science, he’s totally full of it. He really just wants to take you out.”

“But you’ve taken me out like a million times for the experiment. You kissed me once in the name of science.”

“Exactly.”
