Synopsis: Tragedy cuts deep. Revenge burns deeper.
The blood of their enemies coats the leather of their cuts and a trail of bodies lie in their wake, but the Forsaken Motorcycle Club isn't done yet. Carlo Mancuso still needs to pay for his sins. Nobody knows that more than Ian Buckley, the Treasurer for Forsaken.
Ian prefers his pleasure mixed with pain and he's only ever at peace when he's doling out justice. Convinced that he's too unstable and sadistic to take an old lady, he keeps his trysts, like all of his relationships, brief and anonymous. But with his club at war, and the stakes being so personal, Ian's feeling the events around him more deeply than he expects.
Mindy Mercer is the sweet daughter of Fort Bragg’s most respectable cop. At least that’s how the town sees her. Very few people know the Mindy who hides her tracks and battles her cravings by lying to everyone around her. She thinks she has control of her addiction until she suffers an attack that leaves her searching for a way out of her own personal hell.
Mindy has never been more desperately in need of a savior and Ian has never seen a more beautifully destroyed creature in his life. Their attraction is intense, but their damage is extreme. Some scars never heal, and some people never get better.
Love is never more painful than when it can kill you.
Without a doubt, hands down, this series has to be my favorite about an MC. Emery gives readers so much with each of her characters. They are brutal with a heavy hand and sweet in a way that’s tainted with something a little more than just your normal Alpha male. Some characters are darker than others and they each have a distinct personality.
I’ve been waiting for this since I “met” Ian in the first title – Ride. He’s dark and quiet and you never know what’s going on in that head of his. He also has something to him that wounded souls just like him are drawn to. He understands more than most when it comes to pain and internal scars so I can understand how like attracts like. Yet with Ian there’s something I just couldn’t get past and wanted to learn more from the very first meeting.
I guess you could say I have a soft spot for the dark and damaged characters and Ian – along with Mindy – fit the bill perfectly.
If you haven’t read the series than I won’t give anything away other than to say that something happens to Mindy in a previous book that left me affected in a way that doesn’t happen often when reading. It was painful to read and the aftermath for me… I’m still reeling from.
And these two with their dark and damaged parts they keep hidden down inside there was bound to be some pretty explosive moments and I wasn’t let down.
Emery went beyond anything I could have even imagined they story of Ian and Mindy would be. I was left wondering a few things, but I think that’s just how my mind works when it comes to characters that have left a deep mark on me. I couldn’t get enough, I wanted to savor it and didn’t want it to end, yet I couldn’t read fast enough at the same time.
Their story isn’t for the light hearted, yet even with how damaged and twisty these two are there are some touching moments that gave them so many more layers, this just made an even deeper spot in my heart.
The series itself covers a larger story arch, with the books from one to another overlapping a bit, and each book covers a different set of characters within the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. So reading this series from the beginning is best so you have the whole story from the start and won’t be lost. And trust me, it’s worth it to start from the beginning because seriously, Emery can write one hellava story and set of characters.
She is extremely talented and I just can’t get enough of her writing. I have loved everything I’ve read so far and can’t wait to see what she’s going to write for us next.
If you love a great story, wonderful writing and characters that you can’t get enough of, and won’t want to forget, then you’ve come to the right author. Love books about MC’s? Then you’ve hit the jackpot! Don’t wait to start the books, get hooked today! Enjoy!
