Synopsis: He’s the most dangerous man she’s ever met…and she’s falling in love with him.

Madison Frost is desperate to escape her life. Daughter of a prominent businessman, she has everything a girl could ask for. Except for a family who’s present in her life, and anyone to talk to outside the four walls of the prison she calls home. Madison dreams of one day leaving her life behind. She never thought being kidnapped is how it would happen.

Now she’s being held captive by a man who’s as frightening as he is sinfully gorgeous. Enormous, muscular, and filled with secrets, the man they call Ghost is an enigmatic mercenary, and Madison is trapped with him. She doesn’t know who hired him or why, but the more time she spends at his mercy, the more she realizes he’s not what he seems. Beneath his rough exterior lies an unexpected gentleness and a heart as broken and battered as her own.

But as Madison lets down her walls, Ghost holds tight to his, hiding secrets that could destroy everything.

Review: 4.5 Stars - Captive, the first book in the exciting new series from author Brighton Walsh isn’t the first book I’ve read from this author and this just proves even more that it’ll be far, far from the last.

When you find an author you love, a relatively new-ish one you grasp on tight and have mini freak outs when you learn they have something being published. And with this being the third I’ve read from this talented author, I’m yet again thrilled to say that I loved this book.

The characters’ are so different from each other. You have quite, closed off and somewhat reclusive Madison Frost. She comes from a wealthy family yet has been alone for longer than not. Her parents are absent from her life and she wants nothing more than to be somewhere and someone else. And then we have Ghost who’s hardened from the life he’s been dealt and the path he’s chosen to go down. He’s dangerous, trouble and has enough secrets that Fort Knox might have trouble holding.

Their lives intersect in an extremely heightened and unconventional way and Madison must do what she needs to too survive including opening up to this strange mysterious man who more than frightens her.

As the story unfolds readers learn the story from both characters. It’s told more so in Madisons point of view, yet the chapters where we see things from Ghost’s side were eye opening to the situation and why he does what he does. Yet it’s not until the half way point you see just how much the two have similarities in what they feel and how they are changing due to the circumstances they’re in and so much more.

The twist, I did guess and somewhat saw coming. It’s the only reason why I didn’t give this book 5 stars, yet I didn’t feel I took a huge hit in figuring out what was happening before the characters came to the conclusion themselves. There’s enough within the story and these characters to love that it made up for it enough to only take away half a point in the rating.

I loved both the characters’ and how Brighton developed them from beginning to end. I loved watching them change as they learned more about their situation, each other and themselves. However I’m not sure I’d make some of the choices they’d made, yet I’m thankful I’ll never be in their shoes – if I can help it – so I can’t say what type of choices I’d make.

Also, there’s something about a big, bad, frightening, cold guy who gentle that is more than endearing and seriously, he’s one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

I felt anger, confusion and hurt for them both more than one time while reading and if an author can draw out some strong emotions from me, they have a fan out of me, without a doubt. And she’s an author to watch and people should take notice of.

With characters that will leave you both aching and cheering for them and stories that are unique, more readers should take watch for Brighton as a favorite. I highly recommend this author to fans of contemporary. Fans of New Adult and fans of great stories that’ll leave you wanting and ready for more. Enjoy!
