Check out my review for: The Space Between (The Book of Phoenix #2)
NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+
Synopsis: As members of the Phoenix, Jeric and Leni are thrust into their new lives, expected to lead Earth’s Guardians. But Leni struggles with trusting her own soul, and Jeric is more concerned about keeping Leni safe than meeting others’ demands. When Darkness swarms Lake Haven, they embark on their first mission with little preparation and no idea which soul the Dark hunts.
Born and raised in Lake Haven, Bex hopes to escape her small-town life, ideally in the arms of her soul mate. She knows he exists, and her heart aches with the need to find him. When her long-lost mama calls to announce she's knockin' on death's door, Bex reluctantly makes the trip to see the uncaring bitch (bless her heart), only to be knocked off her feet by the sexy and charming Dr. Mason Hayes. Is he really The One?
Leni’s soul felt an instant connection to Bex, but if Bex found her soul mate, she isn’t their mission. So who is, and why does Leni instinctively feel drawn to her? Can Leni even trust her intuition? And will Jeric step up and lead when the time comes orcontinue to hold them back?
If they don't learn to trust themselves and each other quickly, Darkness will claim them all…along with the rest of Earth’s souls.
Review: 5 Stars - The Space Beyond is the second title in author Kristie Cooks The Book of the Phoenix series. Readers shouldn’t pass this extremely well written and captivating series. It’s without a doubt one of my all time favorites and I have some serious love for these characters.
Leni and Jeric’s story was far from over in the first of this series – The Space Between and readers are dropped right back into the action, love, mystery and so much more with the beginning of this new installment. These two characters are fighting things new and old as they come to terms with choices that were made in The Space Between and both are trying to learn to trust and believe in the changes in their new lives. Leni believes a lot easier than Jeric and it’s throughout both of these characters that we have a chance to read their journey from both sides as they try to navigate their new world.
I love how Kristie writes in mulit points of view and that was the case again in this title as well. The book reads so easily going between more than just Leni and Jeric’s characters. We have a chance to meet Bex as she struggles with her own life.
One of the things I always love about Kristie’s books is her writing. She’s a talented author with vast worlds that she masterfully paints with each sentence. Her characters’ are always entertaining and I’m always left somehow affected by their memorable personalities. Her characters are vast as her stories are
The emotions I felt while reading had me all over the place. I wanted to savor the story because I love this series so much yet I couldn’t read fast enough to find out what would happen to Leni and Jeric next. And that ending…. I had tears in my eyes. I didn’t see that coming until it was too late. My heart is breaking. I have no idea what Kristie has in store for them next but I know I’ll be waiting on pins and needles until this summer when the next installment is released.
This is one of those series that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I can’t stress this enough. When I think about all the things I love in a book or series, this one ticks all the boxes and it’s always right at the top of my MUST READ list. You won’t be disappointed, so go and get The Space Between NOW! Then be sure you have time to read The Space Beyond next because you’ll want to read them back to back… that I can promise you.
This is a “New Adult” trilogy for content so readers please keep that in mind. Enjoy!
