26 October 2010

So, how have things been for each of you since we last heard from you guys?

WK: Things have been going pretty well. We’re still figuring out how to work with each other sometimes, but I would say that--
AD: Hello? This question is for both of us.
WK: See what I mean?
AD: What, like you’re the easiest person to live with? Please.
WK: Technically, you’re not living with anyone.
AD: Oh, yes, ha, ha, very funny.

What’s been the hardest part for each of you in your ah,… relationship?

WK: Figuring out how to squeeze in all the make-out sessions.
AD: He wishes.

Will, have things become easier or more complicated now that you have Alona in your life?

WK: Have you met Alona?
AD: Hey!
WK: In all seriousness, some things are easier and others are more complicated.
AD: It would all be easier if you would just listen to me.
WK: No, you mean it would be easier if I would just do what you tell me to do—no questions asked.
AD: Yes, exactly!
WK: And…no. Never going to happen.

Alona, how are you settling into your new role as Will’s “Ghost Whisperer” so to speak? Or should I say “Spirit Whisperer”?

AD: It’s fine. Good, actually. It’s nice to be able to do something, make a difference in people’s lives. Like when I was Homecoming Queen. Three years in a row. Did you know that?

Will, how has it been that you really don’t have to rely on ‘Marcie’ anymore? And speaking of your iPod, what are you listening to these days?

WK: It’s nice not to have to worry about Marcie’s battery running low in the middle of a crowd of ghosts—that really helps. Of course, just because I have a spirit guide now, one who can help me, that doesn’t always mean she will help me.
AD: Oh my God, you are just never going to let that go, are you? It was one time. And I thought you could easily handle it on your own.
WK: It was a team of dead rugby players—all of whom were a little pissed about missing their final match because their bus went off a bridge. What part of that sounds easy?

This question is for the both of you – do either of you feel a sense of accomplishment in the help you give the other Spirits?

WK: I think we definitely feel like we’re doing something important. The hardest part, though, is that we’re never done. No matter how many people you help, there are dozens more waiting for us to get to them.
AD: Seriously. I’m thinking about creating a spreadsheet, if I can get Will to stay near the computer long enough.

Alona, of all the spirits you’ve met recently… have you made any friends or any you could see yourself being friends with?

AD: You know, most of them are kind of obsessed with figuring out what’s keeping them hear, who killed them, passing along a message to their loved ones, etc.…it’s kind of hard to get them to focus on being social. Plus, being Will’s spirit guide complicates things. I never know whether someone is talking to me because they want to or because they’re hoping I’ll bump them up on the list. Not that that bothers me or hurts my feelings or whatever. Because, you know, it doesn’t. At all. I mean, who needs them anyway?

Can either of you give us any hints at what we might read in the next chapter of your story?

WK: Uh, what part are we up to now?
AD: You never read anything Stacey gives you, do you?
WK: I already lived it so…no.
AD: Aren’t you even the least bit curious if she’s getting it right?
WK: What’s the typing equivalent of a shrug? How about: …
AD: Never mind. I should have known. We’re coming up on the part with Mrs. Ruiz and the Gibley Mansion. And meeting Mina for the first time.
WK: Oh.
AD: That’s all you have to say for yourself?
WK: What’s the typing equivalent for “shifts uncomfortably?” How about “Next question, please?”

Will, can you tell us something about Alona that we might not know? And the same question for Alona, can you tell us something about Will we might not know?

WK: I’ll answer if you do.
AD: All right, fine, I guess.
WK: Alona is more than a pretty face, no matter what she wants you to think. She’s smart, good at reading people, and far more vulnerable than she’d ever want anyone to realize.
AD: But I’m still the pretty face, too. Which is nice.
WK: And…
AD: And what? Oh, fine. Will is stronger than he thinks he is. Not the muscle-y kind of strong, though there is that. But I mean, it takes a lot to live like this, to be this different. And Will doesn’t give himself enough credit. He’s not going to crack just because his father did. He’s tougher than he looks.
WK: Thanks…I think.

And lastly, any final words for your readers and the fans of your story??

WK: Thank you for reading along with our story. We appreciate all the support, the emails, the Facebook messages…
AD: The gifts.
WK: Wait…you got gifts?
AD: No, but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.
WK: Riiiight.

Alona, Will, thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us today. We can’t wait to see where your story goes next.

Title: The Ghost and the Goth

Synopsis: After a close encounter with the front end of a school bus, Alona Dare goes from Homecoming Queen to Queen of the Dead. Now she’s stuck here in spirit form with no sign of the big, bright light coming to take her away. To make matters worse, the only person who might be able to help her is Will Killian, a total loser/outcast type who hates the social elite. He alone can see and hear her, but he wants nothing to do with the former mean girl of Groundsboro High.

Can they get over their mutual distrust—and this weird attraction between them—to work together before Alona vanishes for good and Will is locked up for seeing things that don’t exist?

I haven't read the book, but it must be great... Stacey spells her name exactly like me (which is a rarity according to the personalized note pads, pens, stickers, etc. you find on the spinny stands at the stores!)
