Synopsis: The sequel to the international hit, The Only Exception.

A boy burdened with a family legacy.
A girl haunted by a shattered past.
Both searching for answers to a future threatened by the unknown.

Three years ago, conservative Trey Chapman and liberal Monica Remy met their match in one another - and made the only exception that would change their lives forever.

Now, Trey's father is running for president, forcing Trey and Monica to put aside their personal beliefs to be the model of perfection.

But fate has other ideas, casting the family in scandal.

Some seek to use that disgrace to further their family legacy, while others refuse to let go of the past. Trey and Monica soon find themselves lost among questions that challenge their true feelings. Will they be able to rediscover that the only answer lies with one another, or will they lose each other forever?

Review: 4 Stars - The Only Answer by author Magan Vernon is the sequel, which takes place three years after the end of the first title, to The Only Exception. This one follows politically conservative Trey and liberal Monica in the next stages of their relationship.

One thing that I love about these two books and characters is that with how different Trey and Monica are from one another, they work. I always love the whole opposites attract and Vernon has taken it and went beyond with her characters, their story and each of their backgrounds. The work well because they push each other, makes each other question what they believe and in turn see things in a different light when they might not have otherwise.

Vernon writes some great sparring scenes between these two and I love watching them banter back and forth. It’s one of the things I was most looking forward to in this second book.

What I didn’t except was half of what happened. There were some twists that Vernon had up her selves and WOW. I was blindsided a couple of times, was extremely frustrated a few times and wanted to scream many other times while reading.

These two are facing more than their fare share of troubles and obstacles and nothing is ever easy when you are part of a family whose father is running for president, so when things begin to crumble around them everyone was faced with making some hard choices. You can’t help but feel so horrible for them. The stress they were dealing with comes right off the page and you feel it right along with the characters.

Another thing that I loved was having a chance to spend some time with another one of the Chapman brothers and yeah… and I got the feeling he’s going to be filled with some surprises of his own. I can’t wait!

I’ve enjoyed each of the titles by this author that I’ve read in the past and this was another one that was well written and filled with characters I was happy to spend some additional time with. The secondary characters that were sprinkled throughout can be found in other titles from this author which is another huge plus! I loved getting to see so many characters that I’ve enjoyed in the past have a chance to make even a small appearance in this book. I know readers will enjoy this contemporary title, which I recommend. While this can be read as a standalone I believe you should check out the first installment – The Only Exception first to get a better idea how these two characters work. It’s great to see how they met and what makes them tick.

As this title does have mentions of drinking, drugs and sex it is intended for older readers. Enjoy!

Synopsis: One Wild Night Can Change Everything

Valerie Wilder doesn’t do serious relationships. She also doesn’t usually wake up in Vegas next to a male stripper…

A male stripper who happens to be her new husband.

A quickie divorce seems like the answer, but the Nevada legal system doesn’t think so.  When her new husband suggests flying back to Chicago with Valerie she accepts, wondering if one night in Vegas could turn into something much more.

Review: 4 Stars (Episode One) - One Wild Night is the first Episode in the Forever Wild Serial by author Magan Vernon and what a beginning it is! Its 50 pages of one crazy night in Vegas and what comes next for two characters.

Valerie is in Vegas with coworkers for a convention. She’s new at her job, trying to make ends meet until she can make a name for herself and move up in the company. What she doesn’t expect to happen on a night out with some girls from work is to meet a male stripper names Wes.

Well, let me tell you that in the short 50 pages that this first episode is get a lot of bang for our buck. Valerie is a real woman. She’s curvy, honest and extremely realistic. Wes is sweet, sexy and I have a feeling he’s going to prove A LOT to us as readers as these two characters embark on a crazy journey together after waking up in Vegas married.

While I love how much of a quick and entertaining read this was, I wish I had more to continue reading and not have to wait for the next installment. Saying that I’m already addicted to this serial is an understatement. I’m looking forward to reading each episode and can’t wait to find out what happens next.

The Forever Wild is a six part series and is set to release a new episode every three weeks. I recommend this one for Contemporary fans. Please keep in mind that it’s recommended for older readers due to content. Enjoy!

Synopsis: *** This book is proud to be a part of The 12 NA's of Christmas ***

12 New Adult Novellas. 12 Best Selling Authors. November 2013.

Etta Davis didn't have showing a house penciled into her Christmas plans, but with the other realtors already off enjoying their holiday, she'd been stuck with the task. It wasn't all bad though, the house up for grabs used to belong to the family of her high school sweetheart, Andrew Lawson. Though now dilapidated, thanks to its current owners, it still held the power to bring back forgotten memories and turn the routine showing into something else entirely. Particularly when Andrew shows up, wanting to buy the house. Now Etta must decide whether a second chance is worth taking the house, and her heart, off the market.

Excerpt:

Two amazing sexual trysts within an hour of each other, I couldn't believe my luck. It was like something out of a dream, or a really good romance novel. I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real.
Andrew now leaned against my desk with his magnificent upper body still bare and his rock hard abs glistening underneath the fluorescent lights of my office. Normally, I would find a sweaty guy disgusting, but the way his body glistened it was like he was a Greek god and made me want to jump him. It took everything I had to finish the last of my paperwork for the offer on the house instead of staring at the way his hip bones looked and following them down to the top of his faded blue jeans.
"Okay, Andrew, I've filled out all the paperwork for the offer and all I need you to do is sign your X on the line," I said, pointing a pen at the line on the freshly printed piece of paper.
"How about," Andrew started, meeting my gaze with his bedroom eyes. My legs instantly turned to gelatin just from his gaze. "We put two signatures on this line, one for me and one for you."
I blinked once, then twice. I didn’t think he could be serious. Did he mean what I thought he meant?
"Beg your pardon?" I asked.
A large grin spread across his lips, softening the face that moments ago was buried in my chest. "I mean that we should move into that house together."
He walked around the desk, pulling me up and out of my chair so that I was facing him. His lean body towered over me and my legs were shaking from more than just his eyes at that point. "Think about it, Etta. I could do all of the structural work and you could help me decorate and do cosmetic work. I know you love decorating and I’d even find a place to get all of your romance books out of the office.” His eyes lit up like a kid that saw his gifts on Christmas morning.
"It can be our home, what do you say?" he asked.
I fluttered my eyelashes, looking up and then down before biting my bottom lip. "I don't know, Andrew, we just got back together. And I’m not even sure what this together is. How do we know it's going to work? You are kind of putting your ex on the line here. And I'm speaking in terms of girlfriend, not the symbol."

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

I get asked a lot, What is a serialized novel? A serialized novel is basically like a TV show. It’s broken up into episodes. Each story is about fifty pages long, perfect to read in one or two sittings. Each installment will come out every three weeks with six of them total in a season. Each episode will have its own story that will add to the big picture. The basis of One Wild Night is that Valerie Wilder wakes up married to a stripper in Vegas. Each episode follows that story with little plot twists and turns in between.

Synopsis: ***The companion novel to The Only Exception. This is NOT a sequel, but takes place two weeks after Monica and Trey's debate and is Melanie's story.***

Honor student, manager at the campus coffee shop, owner of an impressive sweater collection – Melanie Wilder has it all together. Then John “John Boy” Walden strolls into her life wearing nothing more than an impish grin and all-too-revealing loin cloth.

Soon, make-out sessions replace homework, lust triumphs over work. And to further crumble her perfect world, an unexpected phone call threatens to take away everything she’s worked for.

Now, as Melanie struggles to pick up the pieces, she realizes that John may be the only one to put her life back together…unless he shatters it first.

Review: 4.5 Stars - The Only One by author Magan Vernon is an extremely emotional companion novel to her previous title The Only Exception. Vernon takes a serious topic and gives everyone affected compassion and love from unexpected places.

Melanie Wilder has her life in order. She’s a good student, works on campus and tends to not take chances that could derail her future. She’s a real life Hermione and a true Harry Potter lover which I loved as a secondary character in The Only Exception, having a chance with this story focused on her made me care for her deeper as a character.

John aka “John Boy” is a player. He likes the ladies and everyone knows it. He’s a good guy hiding behind his looks and his image not letting anyone know the real him. When he meets Melanie at a Halloween party in her Hermione costume all bets are off for these two.

Melanie gets some shocking, startling, life altering, scary, and saddening emotionally devastating news. Her story hit close to home for me and while it was often painful to read I couldn’t look away because I wanted to be there for her. I often wished I could reach into the pages and tell her she wasn’t alone. She had people around her, good friends, family and even John but I still had this growing urge to comfort her during this difficult time.

There are important issues dealt with in this title and I hope that others take certain things away with them after reading the story, especially that what Melanie is dealing with as it could happen to anyone. I commend Vernon for taking a serious subject and creating extremely realistic characters that give an authentic view to the issue at hand.

While the majority of the story has a serious tone to it I think I John is one of my new favorite book boys. I swooned and melted over this amazing boy who has a heart of gold. While he did a couple of things that made me want to smack him, it’s in these moments that give him an even more realistic edge. None of us are perfect and while he might be more perfect of a character than others it’s his flaws that made him real.

All in all this is one of my favorite books I’ve read so far this year. I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading and I was more than thrilled the more I delved into the novel. This is one of those titles that you don’t want to end because you feel as if you were a part of the story and the characters’ lives.

Vernon has written a story and characters that are easy to care for, to fall for and to be emotionally invested in. I HIGHLY recommend this title. I can’t say it enough. I know everyone who reads it will also find themselves emotionally invested and not ready for their story to end. Highly recommend = go.read.now!

Synopsis: **This is NOT New Adult. This is NOT Erotica. There is no sex or even swearing. There is some heavy petting and drug references. Basically the book equivalent of a ABC Family show**

It’s so SQUEEEE-DORABLE – Ashleyn Poston, author of Radio Hearts

When life hands you lemons, sometimes you have to say screw the lemons and bail.

Seventeen-year-old Bentley Evans had it all. Then her Dad got laid off.

Now she has to move across town to a small apartment and leave her life of luxury for public school and a job at the local burger place. Just when her world seems like it's crumbling she finds solace in the unlikely punk boy next door, Kai Stone. But as their relationship blossoms, a jealous ex-girlfriend and a secret to tell that threatens to bring disaster back into Bentley’s life.

Review: 4 Stars - Life, Love, & Lemons is another fantastic story from author Magan Vernon. Her characters are always memorable, lovable and her stories always leave a mark. She’s an author that I’m always looking for more from and each time she delivers.

Bentley lead a life for want of nothing. When her dad loses his job, things change and the whole family makes sacrifices until there’s nothing left but to move into a small apartment. Her dad is struggling, her mom is never around and Bentley does all she can to make her circumstances better. She had to change schools, get a part-time job and learn how to live differently from all that she’s used to.

Kai lives with his mom and younger sisters in the apartment next door. They had a rocky beginning to any type of relationship, however from the outside they couldn't be further from one another. While Bentley is used to dressing preppy, Kai is punk through and through right down to his tattoos.

Bentley might have been spoiled but she’s anything BUT that in her new life. Watching her deal with everything as so many big changes have happened we see just how strong she is. Vernon does a pretty fantastic job at making both Bentley and Kai such likable and captivating characters.

I love how different Kai was. I understand that this was Bentley’s story, but for me it became just as much about Kai as it was the main female protagonist. I loved the interaction between the two from the moment they met. I enjoyed how lovable they both were. I loved the things they did for each other day to day. I loved that there was something so much more to each of them than what was shared.

The good and the bad of their parts of the story are depicted extremely well and from beginning to end the messages are clear. These teens are just that… teens and that’s often not the case with many YA contemporary titles. There is also a mystery about Bentley’s past between her ex-boyfriend, a scorned ex-girlfriend of Kai’s and friends on both sides that may or may not give these two a hard time. Add in some parental problems on a range of levels, hormones and you have one heck of a story!

All in all, I’ve read it once and I’ll be reading it again. Isn’t it one of the best things when you find a book you can read over and over again because it’s just that entertaining? Vernon’s books keep getting better and better and I am forever a fan. I highly recommend this title to readers young and old. It’s a sweet story with great characters. Also, the cover is great but I’m not sure it clearly represents both characters, with Kai’s style being punk… so yeah. Happy reading!

Except:

From Monday to Friday it was like everything had changed. Instead of walking through the halls alone with my head down, Kai was always by my side. This, of course, led to some very interesting stares and nicknames from people. I think my favorites were Bonnie and Hyde or Sid and Nancy Drew. Anything people could think of to come up with a couple name for the punk kid and the preppy girl. There were others, but the East High kids could get pretty raunchy when they came up with some of these nicknames.
“Do you still want to go watch Grant and Brody’s band play on Saturday?”
It was that lull after I had fourth period gym class and before lunch. I was leaning against my locker, and Kai pressed his palm against the other locker and faced me.
I still wasn’t sure what to think of Grant and Brody. They were nice and all, but I always felt like they were gawking at me like I was some sort of a zoo exhibit.
         “I don’t know, maybe.”
The truth was that I already asked my parents about the concert. Mom just rolled her eyes and couldn’t believe that her daughter wanted to go to some crummy warehouse to sweat with a bunch of teenagers, but Dad was a little more interested. Just by asking about the concert hosted a whole slew of questions about the bands and who I was going with. I especially got nervous when he started asking questions about Kai.
“What do you mean maybe?” He asked as he ran his tongue over his lip ring. We still hadn’t kissed. I was pretty adamant about the whole not kissing until he was my boyfriend thing. But I couldn’t deny how much I thought about his lip ring.
“I mean, maybe I’m busy or something." I twirled a strand of hair around my fingertip.
“What? Are you going out with one of your other boyfriends or something that night?" He leaned in closer. A couple of jocks walked by and yelled some disgusting comment, but I pretended like I didn’t hear them.
“I don’t have any boyfriends at all, so I really wouldn’t be going out with any of them, now would I?" I batted my eyelashes.
“Why don’t you be my girlfriend then?” He traced his free hand down my arm, full-on putting on the charm.
“Maybe," I answered very quickly, almost too quickly, since he blinked really hard.
“What do you mean, maybe?” He tilted his head to the side and he reached down to grab my hand.
“Ew, get a room." A very tall girl with fiery red hair and cat’s eye glasses yelled and then walked over to us.
“Teegan, if you think that hand holding is bad, then you really need to get out more,” Kai quipped, quickly looking from me to Teegan.
“Oh, I saw plenty of that with you and Brynne. Remember I’m her band mate,” Teegan snarled and walked closer. “But when it’s with little Miss Sandra Dee, it’s kind of disgusting.” She giggled and headed over to a group of girls a few lockers away. Once I caught sight of the group I immediately saw Brynne’s big green eyes glaring in my direction.
“Do you really want to have to keep dealing with that every day? The weird vampire girls and jocks talking about us? Because that’s what you’re going to get,” I said, looking up at him. My cheeks were still hot after Teegan’s comment and I hoped I didn’t look too embarrassed.
He laced our fingers together. “I wouldn’t be still standing here if I didn’t want to be with you." He looked from our hands and back down to me. “Now what do you say, will you be my girlfriend?”
         “Maybe." I smiled again.
He started to roll his eyes when I got up on my tippy toes placing my hands on the back of his neck. I slowly pulled him closer as our lips met for the first time. I couldn’t believe how warm and rough his lips were in contrast to the cold and smoothness of his lip ring. Nor could I believe all the people that were cheering as he pulled me closer to fully envelope himself in the kiss. I didn’t want it to end and swear I literally almost melted in his arms when I felt his tongue on my bottom lip.
A large hand thrusted between us, knocking our bodies apart. I got off of my tippy toes and quickly let go of Kai as I turned to see my gym teacher, Mr. Brown, with his large and quite furry hand placed firmly in the middle of me and Kai. He faced Kai with his spit-stained mustache.
“Handshake, Mr. Stone." He took Kai’s hand from mind and shook it senseless. “Handshake!”

I looked around the basement, sipping whatever concoction some guy poured out of a cooler. He called it a ‘magic potion’ and I hoped that didn’t mean he rufied it. I don’t know how Monica talked me into this.

A horde of girls clad in nothing more than lingerie pushed past me as if I were nothing more than another one of the paddles on the paneled wall. I tried to pull back but then I came face to chest with a set of abs and felt all of the magic potion cascade down my cardigan.

I gasped once the cold liquid soaked through both my layers and hit my skin.

“Too bad, that was such a nice sweater…” A deep voice said.

I looked up, all the way past the chiseled six pack and to a pair of cool blue eyes. “Maybe you should just take it off up in my room and I can help you dry off.” He leaned in, his full lips right on my ear. “Or make you wetter.”

My breath caught in my throat, rendering me speechless. Luckily my best friend Monica jumped between us, pushing the guy back so I got a full view of him and realized he was only wearing a loin cloth and a large smile.

"Down John Boy." She scowled at him and then turned to me, almost knocking her beret off. "What the hell happened to you?"

          "I-I-I spilled my drink."

Monica's eyes narrowed as she looked down at the red liquid soaking through my gray sweater. She whipped her head around to the loin cloth clad guy. "Was this your fault? Are you trying to get my friend naked?"

He held up his hands, a cockeyed grin on his face. "Purely an accident, Lib."

Ah, now I knew where I’d seen him before. He had come into the coffee shop we worked at a few times. I don’t think he even glanced in my direction more than to hand me his student ID to pay, but was always calling Monica ‘Lib.’ I’m guessing because she was an extreme liberal.

Monica's boyfriend, the governor's son Trey Chapman, pushed through the crowd. When I usually saw him he was polished in dress pants and a dress shirt, but his Halloween costume was nothing more than a pair of American flag boxers, a dress shirt, and some gray hairspray. He looked ridiculous. I still don't know how Monica talked him into the Clinton and Lewinsky couples costumes.

"Hey, I’ve been looking for you." He slipped his arm around Monica's waist. "What's going on here?"

"Your big brother here spilled a drink on Melanie to try and get her naked."

          "Hey!" John yelled.

"It wasn't his fault," I piped in. "It’s crowded here and he just ran into me. It’s fine."

"Fine?" Monica raised her eyebrows. "That Hermione costume you've been wearing since middle school is covered in ever clear and Kool aid. That’s not fine."

"I haven't worn this since middle school!" Okay, truth was, it was my go-to costume. I bought it for the first movie's midnight showing and wore it for every movie opening and Halloween since.

"Whatever." Monica turned her head to Trey and tugged on his shirt. "You can just wear Trey's shirt."
