About ALL THE PRETTY LIES:

All the Pretty Lies
“Live, no regrets”

Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life.  However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her.  She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over.  For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday.  So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them.  It’s never had to be.  He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember.  Right up until tragedy struck.  Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession.  But the one thing they can’t find is a future.  Neither one has been totally honest.  And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details.  In the details and in the lies.

How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

Excerpt:

I nod, and she makes her way down the hall that I now see is lined with photographs. My stomach tightens, but I figure that I need to get this over with if I’m going to be staying here. I walk towards them, stopping at the first picture. I’m guessing it’s from the day they first met, the time she told me about, because she’s giving him a playful frown while he’s grinning at her like he’s already half in love with her, which, to be honest, he probably was. I feel a slight twinge as I take in the picture, knowing that at that moment he had no idea how short of a life he was going to have with her. Hell, he probably wouldn’t have even cared, as long as he had her while he could.

Shaking the thought out of my head, I browse each one. There are candid shots of them mixed throughout professional ones from events such as her graduation, Sierra and Jeremy’s wedding, and what looks like an engagement party. As I pass each picture, it’s becoming more real to me that she had a whole separate life before we reconnected. Strangely, I’m not bothered by it, seeing how happy she looks in these pictures, even though it was with another man and not me. I’ll admit that I was a little worried when she told me about their fighting, but looking at these pictures? I know Ty made her a happy woman, and I’m grateful that she had that while she could. Do I wish it had been me? Fuck yes, but what can you do?

Coming to the last picture, I’m breathless as the image of Alexa in a wedding dress enters my vision. I’m moving in for closer inspection when she comes out of her room, stopping when she catches me. Her hand covers her mouth as she closes her eyes for a split second. She swallows hard before walking towards me. She reaches out her hand as if to touch my arm before pulling it back, obviously thinking better of it.

“Jace, I… This is probably awkward, I’m sorry. I just… I wasn’t expecting you, and I don’t…” She trails off as she stares at the wall, glancing at the picture before turning her eyes towards the floor.

About the Author:

I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and am married to a guy 15 inches taller than me. We're quite the pair! We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats.

I've been reading since I was a kid. My mom was a librarian, so it was a given. Heck, she even made sure we watched Wishbone instead of the Smurfs. In 2011 when I graduated from college, my mom bought me a Nook, and then in the summer of 2012 I found this amazing site called Goodreads. I was introduced to so many amazing indie/self-published authors. After reading almost 400 books that year, my husband gave me the push to finally sit down and write my own. It was a rocky start, but over time the words started flowing and I couldn't get Jace and Lexi out of my head.

If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.

I LOVE to hear from readers, so please feel free to contact via any social media site listed below.

Altered is a must read, Jennifer Rush is an AWESOME author and I'd do just about anything to read Erased sooner rather than later.

Review - More Than Jamie Baker By: Kelly Oram

Title: More Than Jamie Baker (Jamie Baker #2)

Check out my review of: Being Jamie Baker (Jamie Baker, #1)
Synopsis: Jamie Baker, the only girl in the world with superpowers, has now accepted who she is and learned to control her power. Not to mention she has the best boyfriend on the planet. Life is finally looking good. But the day she witnesses an accident and decides not to save the guy out of fear of being exposed, she realizes that simply being Jamie Baker isn't enough.

After seeing Jamie so wrecked with guilt, the ever-helpful Ryan Miller decides it's time to make all of his fantasies about turning his girlfriend into an honest-to-goodness superhero become a reality.

Of course, coming up with a decent Super Name and fending off all of Ryan's attempts to get her into spandex aren't the only problems Jamie faces. The more her alter ego starts to make headlines, the harder it becomes for Jamie to hide her extracurricular activities from her best friend, the government, radical scientists, and the mysterious new guy who is determined to steal her from her boyfriend.

Review: 4 Stars - More Than Jamie Baker By Kelly Oram is the second in the Jamie Baker series and let me tell you, it sure did live up to the “More” in its title. These books are always such a fun read yet as the characters grow and get older their issues change and in this installment there were a lot of changes going around.

Jamie and Ryan are finally out of High School and away in college. Readers of “New Adult” looking for a story that is free of sex, that tends to come with the category, should pick these up! It’s not often that you find a title in this category that doesn’t have sex through it, yet with Orams writing and how character driven her books are, there’s nothing at all missing because really, she has everything else and then some! Plus, during this age and time in their adult lives there’s more going on and I know I enjoyed a book that wasn’t focused on just the over the top intimate part of a couple’s relationship. While sex in “New Adult” titles far from bothers me, this was just a new change. I believe that this is a fantastic showing of just how well a “New Adult” title can be written, without the sex.

I loved Jamie’s story in the first book – Being Jamie Baker. I loved watching her navigate Ryan’s interest and watching her try to deal with her ever growing powers. Her parents are present in both books and want nothing but what’s best for her and that’s keeping these powers under wraps. Ryan’s the same and man, that guy will do anything to 1) keep Jamie safe and 2) get her into a wonder woman costume. The second is beyond comical, trust me there.

There are some characters from the first book that make appearances through this one which some were welcomed and some you just wanted to smack. There are some new key players that’ll have you grinding your teeth, just as I was. There are also new struggles for Jamie and Ryan and trouble around every corner.

To me Oram writes extremely absorbing characters. Her writing always flows with ease and I’m always left wanting more. I am such a fan of everything I’ve read of hers so far and I look forward to what’s next.

Speaking of what’s next…. Kelly… that ending!?! I wanted to scream! I wanted to throw my Kindle! How on earth could you leave us hanging like that?! That’s one of the worst cliffhanger endings I have EVER read! I was hoping and praying for one outcome and you gave us… well, not that at all. I still am affected by it weeks after reading! Talk about rough… *sigh*

Oram is without a doubt an auto buy/read author. I highly recommend her titles and suggest keeping an eye out for more from her in the future. I think she has some amazing things in the works… or at least I’m assuming she does because that’s how she’s been in the past. I can’t wait for more and you shouldn’t wait any longer either! Go grab one of her titles today and enjoy!

Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By Books & Much Loved Books!

It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet.  Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US.  So, Michelle from Much Loved Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions. We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!

Book Wars is a new feature for both of us which we hope to post every Monday, while we get it up and running this is subject to change as we participate in other features or tours we have committed to prior to setting up Book Wars.

Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce. The Book Wars winner for The Immortal Rules is..... the UK cover!  Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for helping to picking a winner.

Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

Let the Wars Begin: Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.

Lisa This is another rough week for me. Because I love the UK cover, but I think the US cover shows just how dark and creepy a story truly is. But I like the look of the UK cover too... UGH! I think I'm voting for the UK cover this week because while I do love a great scary story, I think this cover is just a bit TOO creepy for me. UK gets my vote this week.
Michelle This is a tough one for me as not only have I not read the book, I don't recall hearing about it before. After reading the synopsis and looking at both covers I think I am going to go for the USA one for today. The UK one doesn't really inspire me to want to pick up the book, yet the USA one is creepy, and to me this would be a challenge to see if the book lived up to the creepiness of the cover.
Its a USA vote for me this week.

Title: Never Let Go
Author: Scarlett Edwards
Publisher: (October 17, 2013)
Genre: New Adult Romance
From: the Author
Format: eARC
Add to: Goodreads
Order a copy: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Amazon UK

NOTE: This is a "New Adult" novel. Due to mature content this title is recommended for ages 17+
Synopsis: The start of college heralds new beginnings and new friendships.  It gives every girl a chance to reinvent herself.

I go and screw mine up by meeting the most gorgeous guy I’ve laid eyes on in five years while talking to my cat outside my dorm.

But Andrew Crowner is far from judgmental.  After helping me move my things to my room, he has me smitten by his easy manners and kind smile.  And from the way his eyes linger on me before he leaves, I start to think that maybe I’ve caught his attention, too.

I let myself believe that luck might finally be on my side until I stumble upon my roommate… and her overnight guest.
Spencer Ashford.

Lean and tattooed, sexy as sin and dangerous, Spencer is exactly the type I want to avoid.  I would have no trouble with that… were it not for his swift and inexplicable interest in me.

In the span of a week, I go from a girl with next-to-no experience with boys to one caught in the cross hairs of two totally different men.

Andrew’s interest is wholesome and sweet.  Spencer’s is edgy and raw.  The  choice should be easy.  But there are always complications, and sometimes, matters of the heart take the least expected turns.

Review: 3.5 Stars - Never Let Go by Author Scarlett Edwards is the first title in what looks to be a new series. With the ending leaving things more than open for the story to continue, following the same characters that we’ve met in this title, I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next.

I’ve said it before many times over and I’ll say it again… I’m a HUGE fan of “New Adult” titles and getting a chance to read and review this one for the blog tour was yet another book I jumped at the chance of reading. It’s not the best, but there’s enough from beginning to end of the story and the characters that are interesting and endearing.

One of the main things I liked about this book was that there was a good guy and a bad guy after our female leads affections. While it is written somewhat as a love triangle, things quickly change when true colors are shown. That’s something that I appreciated about the story. It’s not often when reading that I find a story such as this… where a characters true personality comes through after so long of trying to keep up the first impression pretenses. We all know that in life you go about to be on your best, or as close to your best behavior when you meet someone. However, keeping that up after so long is harder to do than anyone ever expects. And that’s what I appreciated in this story. That we had a chance to see what happened when people change and their true selves come out.

For me, I wasn’t a fan of Andrew the more I read. He was such a nice guy but he kind of creeped me out. It wasn’t long until I read one scene and I felt so let down for Paige. Andrew has his reasons for keeping to the strict rules so his decisions early on in the book were admiral and understandable. However, there was something that kept niggling in my mind about him that I just couldn’t get past.

Spencer, while he’s one of those bad boys that all the girls want.. the one who doesn’t do the girl friend thing? Yeah, that’s him… there’s something about him that is honest and sincere. You can see there’s some possible cracks to his bad boy persona that just need the right girl to come along and chip away at that armor he’s wearing.

There are a couple parts in the story that these characters showed their age, and some misunderstandings that gave these characters a more realistic feel, which was something else I appreciated.

All in all the more of the story I read and got to know the characters the more I liked the book as a whole. There were a few parts that were a bit rocky for me and a few that I could see coming, but there was a couple of twists that I didn’t so that made up for things a bit. I liked that this is the beginning of a series, which again I didn’t see coming but was glad because the closer I got to the end of the book the more I felt like this was more of a beginning than an end. The writing was done well and I can’t wait to read what comes next! Those who like a great contemporary story should give this one a try; I think “New Adult” readers will enjoy this one!

About the Author:

I’m Scarlett Edwards.  I wrote my first book as a college sophomore.  After six months of edits, it made its debut as Yours to Savor.

That was at the start of 2013.  I’ve written more books since then.  You can find them all here.

It’s funny how quickly life changes.  I used to think I’d need a degree to get a “Real Job.”  Then I wrote a few books, they got somewhat popular, and now I’m living the life as a full-time romance author.

Thanks to all my readers for making my dream come true.
